The best food and/or drink from each country?

Keep in mind that, just because something originates from a country, it doesn't mean the country is the best at making it. Sure, people say that Italy has the best ice cream (it's said to have originated during the Roman Empire). However, I read that the Chinese were maybe the first ones to eat ham as we know it today. Yet, a lot of people say that the best one is in Spain.

Also, the question isn't just about prepared drinks and dishes. For example, Chile is said to have the best wine, while Germany is said to have the best beer.

NO! NO! NO!

The best beer in the world is from Belgium, though "it is said" can say anything.

The US has both the worst beer in the world, and some of the best, with the many micros located throughout the country.

What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence.

Belgium is the best for beer in my opinion. So many different flavours, strengths and other varieties. And I love how when you are in a bar there, the beer you order comes in that particular beer's glass. This is because the glasses are designed to suit that beer and enhance its flavours etc.

I wouldn't have Chile as the best wine. Again, my opinion. Personal preference is Italian. But really it depends on the grape. For example, if its a Sav Blanc, I'd choose a New Zealand.

Yorkshire is a place. Yorkshire is a state of mind.

Exactly.

I've been to almost 60 countries, and my favorite for food is Vietnam, specifically Hanoi.

Thanks for sharing that!!!

I'm certainly no food expert, far from it. But I'll say if you are coming to America go to New England and feast on fried clams and clam chowder (chowdah.) Come in July, August or September and get some of the best corn on the cob anywhere. If you're into maple syrup on your pancakes New England has some to rival Canada's or anywhere else. (I think New England is the best region of the country overall.)
