Suggestions for someone wishing to paint again :)

Has anyone got some suggestions for any books to help me get back into painting? Used to paint a lot until college when I was told I wasn't great at it and now it has created like a mental block where I just can't seem to relax enough to work at all and would like to start back into it. I read a bit of The Artist's Way, to be honest it wasn't really my thing so has anyone any other suggestions? They would be greatly appreciated! Even anything slightly off topic would be great :)

Just buy a load of new art materials, always works for me! A massive roll of cartridge paper 4.5x33 feet, a whole box of condensed charcoal, some canvas, some new brushes, some new paint, inks, gouache, pencils, etc. etc. Whatever floats your boat, then just lock yourself away and get stuck in. Or, try reading 'The Journal of Eugene Delacroix', as the title suggests, it's his journal as written by him, it's beautiful, fascinating, compelling, utterly engrossing, magical etc.
