Thanks for the recommendations Red-Barricuda (very interested in all of your international suggestions in particular!). How great was Man From Reno? (Though it presented sort of a categorization quandary for me had it been selected, since it's an American film, but mostly in Japanese).

reply

Man from Reno is very good. I think its mixture of an American setting with Japanese characters made it a very distinctive neo-noir. I think it would definitely be a good selection for next year's fest, especially given that it is still well under the radar and has not been seen by too many people which is a real shame.

Hi Cats, with having seen the film a while ago I second your The Falling suggestion (with Rams also being near the top of my "must buy" list, and Survivalist being a title I've ordered this week.)

And here are 3 that I think could find a spot at the next event:

Your Name:

www.imdb.com/title/tt5311514/

Girls Lost (perhaps for the LGBT section?)

www.imdb.com/title/tt4425152/

Life,Animated:

All three look like interesting suggestions, thanks!

A Pidgeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence is on my watch list, so I'll try to remember to check it out in the coming months.

For early JBD candidates (I haven't seen these yet but they're on the short list):
Director's Cut
When Black Birds Fly
Cat Sick Blues- 5.5/10
Francesca
I Am Alone
Circus of the Dead

reply

Didn't you say you liked The Wailing as well? I am also interested in Raman Raghav 2.0 which may be JBD eligible.

I'm always impressed by your knowledge of indie horror (how did you hear about the film with 14 votes?)...I'll keep an eye out for all of those titles if they become more easily available.

reply

I'm going to try to watch the 3 you have listed for JBD as well as all the films nominated for that category. So, thanks for the recs, Barracuda. 
Seoul Station, in particular, looks interesting...
