2017 outlook

I expect 2017 to get off to a slower start than 2016, with January, February, and April having downturns with March being the only exception. Summer 2017 will be much stronger, especially once we get to June and July and May will be a considerable improvement. The Fall season has a Marvel release in early October, so that alone will definitely make next Fall better than this one. November should be strong as usual with Marvel and DC being in direct competition, and Episode 8 can definitely be expected to make more than Rogue One.

So overall outlook: slow start, picks up steam, end with a bang.

I think February will end up being quite massive.

Fifty Shades Darker, John Wick Chapter 2, and the Lego Batman movie all open on February 10th

Then the next weekend is the 4-day President's Day weekend with The Great Wall(and other titles) serving as the 'blockbuster' film opening that weekend.
