2016 Domestic Ticket Tracker

After last years thread I have been following the ticket sales so far this year. January and February had sales fairly similar to last years with 119.1 and 91.9 respectively. Solid months but not great. March is looking to be one of the better ones on record with about 100m in ticket sales so far and 4 days to go as compared to the 83.6m for all of March last year.

Anybody have an idea on where to get quarterly numbers and monthly totals for every month? BOM hasn't been working well.

I had to tabulate the monthly ones manually. It was a real pain in the arse doing it but fortunately I still have them all stored in an Excel sheet saved on my work computer, so I will post them all up on Tuesday.

I uploaded the file to google docs. It doesn't have 2016 data as yet so if you want to add that in or manipulate it you will need to download it into your own spreadsheet.

Thanks, that's great.

Little late on this but after a pretty good March where there were around 108m tickets sold the first quarter of 2016 ended with approximately 319.9m tickets sold. That's 15m more then the same point last year and sort of upper middle of the pack for the years since 2000 (7th).

The years ahead of it did 88.9m (2012), 95.5m (2010), 93.2m (2009), 104.3m (2004), 90.5m (2003), 94.6m (2002) in the month of April. If it ends up above 90m for the month then it is keeping pace or gaing depending how much above.

April is done and it was another solid month with 95.3m tickets sold and 415.2m on the year so far. As it currently stands for years since 2000 at the end of April (May totals in brackets);

1) 2002 - 454.5 (157.8)
2) 2004 - 446.5. (143.6)
3) 2010 - 428.4. (114.9)
4) 2003 - 422.8. (158.5)
5) 2009 - 419.0. (136.5)
6) 2012 - 416.3. (126.2)
7) 2016 - 415.2. (?)
8) 2006 - 413.2. (119.3)
9) 2000 - 407.9. (118.2)
10) 2001 - 405.7. (108.5)
11) 2007 - 403.2. (134.6)
12) 2005 - 400.3. (126.5)
13) 2015 - 395.2. (124.8)
14) 2014 - 394.3. (121.1)
15) 2008 - 378.4. (132.0)
16) 2011 - 364.9. (128.8)
17) 2013 - 362.3. (136.3)

An average May with 125m admissions would move it up a spot. 130m or more and it will move up to 5th behind the big years of 2002-04 and then 2009 although losing ground since they had huge May's.

Do you have the latest?

Progressive "logic": Quran-inspired attacks have nothing to do with Islam

reply

Yep, the worst May since 2000 by a wide margin. 106.9 tickets sold to bring its total for the year up to 522.1.

reply

I'm not surprised. With the exception of Civil War it doesn't even feel like the summer season has started.
