my constant predictions for unwanted sequels keep getting proven right

Opening weekend.

I don't know how accurate they are, 50 shades of gray was expected to do around:
$61,000,000** $148,000,000

On the 4 days weekend, it end up doing 93 million.

But even if it end up in that 35-43 million range, I'm not sure that it made it an unwanted sequels (not just because it is an international title, not really a domestic one), but no one called Split an unwanted movie.

Almost no non-sequels made 40 million in 2016 on their opening weekend.

Live action movie that were not direct sequels opening 40+ million:

Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them
Ghostbusters (2016)
The Jungle Book
Doctor Strange
Deadpool
Suicide Squad
Rogue One

--------

All those are remake/prequels, remove those and you are left with 2 big superheroes movies. Doing 40 million would show audience wanting sequels and that one in particular (because it will end up higher than almost every non-sequels released this year).

this is the latest sequel to a bad film that will massively decrease. And then we have the numerous summer films like Pirates, Transformers and Cars

Only one "lol" with this post. It must be amusing you less than some of your last threads.

So the movie will probably make its budget back in the first few days of release and end up having the second biggest opening weekend of the month?

Yeah, sounds like something that nobody wanted.

Er... Deadpool, Fifty Shades of Grey and The Lego Movie all opened on February with much more money than that.

Thing is the films in this series cost next to nothing to make;if it can do 100 Million domestic the studio will make a good profit.
It is going to be like the Resident Evil or Underworld franchises;not huge hits, but ,if you keep the budgets low enough it has has enough of a following to make a decent profit.
