Call it now: Will Disney break Universal's record total from 2015?

I know that they could do or they are in a position to do it but WILL they do it?

I say they beat before Rogue One even comes out.

What about Moana and Finding Dory?

I don't know how much the average child is going to care about critics reviews or how Pixar is going to be resurrected after The Good Dinosaur. I think most kids and parents liked The Good Dinosaur, I know that I sure did.

Finding Dory will rival Civil War in domestic dollars.

This I doubt kids can go to a theater alone, they pretty much always brought by older people, reviews can certainly matter.

reply

Actually, I disagree. It is not going to matter for a sequel. If a reviewer even says that a movie is just average, nothing special, but just 90 minutes that will entertain the kids, it will be as though the reviewer is saying it is the best movie of the year to parents that just want to take their kids to the movies.

Cannot say that Minions number don't support what you are saying.

reply

Really? The Minions numbers seem to outright endorse what I am saying as though it came right from the gospels. Minions made more domestic than any other Despicable Me by a decent amount with much lower reviews and made a great deal more worldwide than any other cartoon except for Frozen. It is the most profitable move in Universal Studio history according to them.

That is like saying the Star Wars franchise does not indicate that average viewers can sit through a sci-fi movie, despite being the most popular series ever.
