... is one of the great mysteries of history. Was he a true reformer, or a seriously unbalanced fanatic? A movie that would do justice to him would be a very riveting movie indeed.

Savonarola was a seriously unbalanced fanatic, but that doesn't mean he was wrong.

Italian society of his day was morally bankrupt and completely corrupt, and leaders of the church were the worst offenders. He had a lot to be upset about.
