Janis Joplin

I heard a rumor that Zooey Deschanel might play the "Queen of Rock and Soul".
She can not play Janis Joplin. If she is going to play a woman of the psychedelic rock era, she should play Grace Slick. She has those large "striking" eyes and pale skin. That, and having actually heard her sing, I feel that she would sing 'White Rabbit' beautifully. Her voice is just deep enough to pull it off.

As for Janis, leave her alone. If you can't find the right one, you don't have to settle. Physically, you need a woman with...
-A round face
-Eyes that squint when she smiles
-Little teeth + wide smile
-Slightly below average-sized chest
-Slightly above average-sized butt and thighs

My suggestion, Joss Stone. I am not a Joss Stone fan, I find her songs incredibly annoying. However, I have heard her sing 'Piece of my Heart', it was not a perfect match but it was quite good. That and having seen her on "The Tudors" as Anne of Cleves, I must admit I was quite impressed by her acting abilities.
I believe (at least by comparison to the many other actresses rumored to play her), that she would do a wonderful job of playing Janis Joplin.

They'll need to fatten Zooey up a little, and feed her lots of Southern Comfort.

There was a project planned a few years ago with Pink playing the lead.

"If I knew the way, I would take you home" ("Ripple")

Been waiting for decades to see a Janis biopic.

When it happens, I hope they don't muck it up.

To God There Is No Zero. I Still Exist.

I think if they stuck to Laura Joplins bio and assistance it would be ok.
No need to embellish a story such as hers.

Janis Joplin: Get It While You Can
Director/Co-Writer: Fernando Meirelles
Star: Amy Adams

What happened? Penelope Spheeris was supposed to direct Janis' biopic. She directed some awesome movies and our most iconic music videos. What has Fernando Meirelles done... City of God.
Amy Adams too... I won't lie she is an amazing actress, I have no doubt in my mind that she could pull off such a role. It would not have been my choice but its better than Zooey Deschanel... who is still listed on the same page to play Janis Joplin. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1670250/ If I had a vote of the two, Amy Adams, absolutely. But I never would have chose her in the first place.

Pink, Joss Stone and Kelly Clarkson would be much better choices.

reply

I'd be happy with that choice.
I think Amy Adams can do it. She has the range and the compassion.

I just read on another thread that Amy Adams had been cast in a biography of Janis Joplin, what gives?
