Has anyone ever dealt with a deaf cat?

My uncle thinks his cat might be deaf. Because when my uncle attempts to play with her or tries to get her attention the cat doesn't respond very well. And I would like to know if anyone who has a deaf cat notices this? The only problems my uncle's cat has had are congestion and allergies and so i'm wondering if my uncle should try to go to a vet to get his cat a hearing test to determine if she is really deaf? I have rarely seen deaf cats and do they require special care?

I ONCE HAD A DEAF DOG...SHE WAS FINE AS LONG AS SHE MADE EYE CONTACT AND KNEW WHAT WAS UP...SHE GOT KIND OF VIOLENT WHEN SHE WAS SURPRISED.

My uncle's cat never is violent but my uncle has only had her for a year and when she was a kitten she developed her allergy problem and she would get colds and so do you think it could be causing my uncle's cat's deafness and should my uncle try to clean her ears and maybe she will hear better?
