Anyone else have a pet who's a music critic?

My cat doesn't hate my singing in general (even though it sucks). I've sang many songs in the house and he just sits there. However, he got all upset when I was singing The Sound of Silence in the style of the band Disturbed.

He also hates anything by Styx.

We can use the bongo drums, the kazoo, the xylophone, the pennywhistle, even tambourines - cat does nothing. Guitar? Runs and hides. Even when it's not amped.

I wish I knew what it was about certain music that he dislikes.



If I gave a *beep* what loose acquaintances or strangers thought about me, I'd have wilted long ago.

My cat goes MENTAL if I play the theme from Zorba The Greek

A friend of mine had a dog who was a Beach Boys fan.

If you played them on the stereo, he'd come running. When the song got to a part with high pitched, wordless singing "ah-oooo! Oooo-oooo-oooo!, etc.", he'd howl along. It was great!

A dog I knew loved her human mother's signing but hated Elvis. She didn't like to hear or watch him. They believed it was because he moved around.
I read/heard that it doesn't sound the same to them as it does to us.

The cat I have now enjoys music and will even make noises along with it, like she is singing.
