Hey, Hey it's Movie Day! And Cousin Countie's Buying!

Friday is movie day; when all the new movies premiere in the theatres.

So what movies are you looking forward to seeing and what do you want from the candy counter? And if you've already seen a good movie you'd like to discuss let's hear about it--whether it's in the theatre or at home on On Demand or wherever.
And remember...Cousin Countie's buying so go ahead and splurge.

Me? I wanna see "La La Land" with a big ol' tub of hot buttered popcorn, some Raisinettes, and a large Sprite with lotsa ice. 

What about you?

I have tried and failed 3 times to see Sing. I really want to see it. The last time i went it was sold out so i saw La La Land instead. It was okay but certainly does not live up to the hype and all the nominations. I was bored through most of it, but it was okay, not awful. I love musicals and this one is no where near as good as others, certainly does not belong in the "classic movie" category.

I want to see that one about the boy and his imaginary friend that is a tree come to life outside his window. Can't think of the name of it.

Want to see Hidden Figures. It looks like a really good story.

Want to see A Dog's Purpose in spite of the fact that PETA says i shouldn't.

When i went to see La La Land, there were two previews that looked exceptional. I can't remember the titles of either of them but Octavia Spencer is in both. Will definitely look for those in a few weeks.

Not a fan of movie theater popcorn because it's overpriced and too salty and i don't like that fake butter. But if you're being generous I'd love to share your Raisinets.

Hmm...might one of the O.S. films have been "Gifted"?

And sure, we can share some Raisinettes (seems like everybody loves 'em) I'll just get the jumbo box.

I was thinking seeing a movie tonight too. Now that the Oscars nominations have been announced, I realized how behind I was on my movies.

Probably see one of the Best Picture noms...not sure which one yet.

I recently saw Fences and La La Land. Fences was depressing. La La Land was okay.

If there was a category for least likable character then Denzel Washington should win the Oscar for that. Fences is not even one of those feel good movie moments from a sad drama film. It was just plain depressing. I hope no awards are won for it because they then make other ones like it; they probably will anyway.

La La Land was better than I thought it would be. I'm not usually one for musicals. I do know people who break into song at a given moment but not entire stage dance numbers. I did like the old movie feel to it. It wasn't a bad romantic comedy. I liked that it wasn't one hundred percent predictable.

I've so far seen five of the Oscar nominated ones and Hidden Figures was indeed my favorite.

Just as I suspected; ""La La Land" is a "good" (as in "not bad" but not worth all the fuss) film and "Fences" is yet another bitter scenery chewing Oscar gambit for Denzel Washington.

Cakey, I think I know what you mean by "depressing"...

Case in point: Aronofsky's "Requiem For A Dream" -- while there was no denying it a brilliant and powerful film is was depressing as hell...literally. And as good as it was, one viewing was plenty.

That's how i felt about Dances With Wolves. Great movie. Great acting, etc. But terribly depressing. I wish i hadn't watched the ending. And i never want to see it again.

Refresh my memory...what happens at the end? It's been awhile since I've seen it.
