Gay rights

Woke means awareness and alertness of discrimination and social injustice. Racism, sexism, etc.
The reason why it's become a slur overtime is because it includes too much irrational paranoia and over-reactiveness to said discrimination and social injustice. In other words, seeing those things where there is probably none, and then trying to fix it when it ain't broke.

I agree theres a line between change needed / change for the sake of it / change not wanted or required

This country has had a bi-partisan consensus on equality for blacks since hte mid 60s, supported by the vast majority of the population that has had no problem voting for such candidates.
The vast majority of disagreement over racial policies has been how to achieve that, not whether to do it or not.
Thus, mainstream candidates calling other mainstream candidates racist is generally false and very divisive.
Also, anyone that would claim that we have a racist society or god forbid, a WHITE SUPREMACIST society is full of crap.

shareYep. With the ending of Jim Crow in teh mid 60s, both parties and government and society as a whole was united in support of equal rights for blacks.
Since then policy debate has been about the best way to do that. Neither party has at any time since then, been against it.
That should be kept in mind when we have any discussion of Race or racial issues.
