Republican Congress Will Wreck U.S. Economy!

Florida received $80 million dollars for travel ad budget, therefore it's obvious Republicans don't care about debt.

They're incompetent and have zero ideas. All they know how to do is ruin the economy, manufacture irrelevant culture wars and complain without providing solutions.

At least Democrats attempt to make things better for regular Americans.

reply

The Republicans control the House and yet instead of coming up with solutions to the problems that face Americans they go after drag queens and Hunter's laptop. The GOP is self destructing.

reply

We had to when democrats started sexualizing children.

If that laptop belonged to any Republican politician's son, he'd already be in prison. It's proof that Biden is in China's pocket but naturally, you don't care.

reply

Just typical Republican bigotry and hate-mongering.

Meanwhile another day, another Republican arrested for child molestation:

"28 Republicans Who Call Gay People 'Groomers' Voted Against a Bill Addressing Child Sex Abuse"
https://www.yahoo.com/now/28-republicans-call-gay-people-174500075.html

Of course, they did!

reply

Yes, I hate anyone who wants to sexualize children. Guilty as charged.

reply

Age of consent in most states is 16. Should we have a Federal law making the age higher in all states?

reply

How is that relevant???

reply

I don't think you can sexualize a child more than by fucking him... are you cool with 16-year-old sodomy?

reply

No. I personally think the age of consent should be higher. But again, how is that relevant???

We're talking about the sexualization of pre-pubescent children. Not horny teenagers banging.

reply

The child rapists are Republican heterosexual men, not people in drag reading books.

reply

Raping a child is already against the law and anyone who does it should be shot.

Grooming children by exposing them to sexually explicit material or drag shows is not against the law in many states, mine included.

Why do you support pedophiles???

reply

We need to ban the Bible and ban children from church. Do you agree?

reply

You are hopelessly, terminally stupid.

reply

Bible has murder, sex, incest, rape, prostitution, etc. in it. Not appropriate for children.

The crucifix has a half-naked man in a tortured and violent position. Not appropriate for children.

We need to ban the Bible and ban children from church. Do you agree?

reply

You are hopelessly, terminally stupid.

reply

You can't defend the Bible.

reply

I wouldn't have to, if you weren't hopelessly, terminally stupid. Or if you'd actually read it.

reply

The Bible is violent and filled with sex which is inappropriate for children.

reply

"horny teenagers banging."

Perhaps yes. Perhaps no. I would posit that fewer 16 year-old boys would be getting their sphincters stretched by people like Kevin Spacey and Dennis Hastert if statutory rape laws were broadened to protect said 16-year-old boys.

reply

On that we're in agreement.

reply

That's the idea with this debt ceiling BS. Send the U.S. economy over the cliff and blame Democrats for it.

reply

Insane democrat spending is the tipping point.

reply

Tell DeStupid in Florida to return the $80 million dollars he stole from taxpayers!

reply

Liar! Democrats have tanked the US economy.

reply

Bush 1, Bush 2 and Trump are all Republicans who tanked the economy.

reply

As usual, lies are all you have.

Bush 2 dealt with 9/11 and Trump had COVID. Both were doing very well when those disasters struck. If it weren't for COVID, the US would be doing better than ever right now, with Trump serving his 2nd term. Versus the catastrophic shit show we have right now.

reply

Excuses! Excuses! At least you admit the economy was horrible under Republicans.
I'll throw in Hoover since homeless encampments were called Hoovervilles and he was criticized by the horrible way he handled it.

1932: Economy in throes of “Great Depression” that started in 1929. Sitting Republican President Herbert Hoover loses to Democrat Franklin Roosevelt.

"A "Hooverville" was a shanty town built during the Great Depression by the homeless in the United States. They were named after Herbert Hoover, who was President of the United States during the onset of the Depression and was widely blamed for it."

1992: A recession begins in July of 1990 and lasts for eight months, well before the 1992 election contest between Republican President George H.W. Bush and Democratic challenger Bill Clinton. But people’s memory of the downturn is long and it is widely seen as key factor in Clinton victory.

Bush 1 was a lazy, incompetent disaster who repeatedly pretended the economy was good while homelessness increased and people suffered. Clinton rolled up his sleeves and worked to fix the economy.

Famous quote: "The economy, stupid." That was the sign in the campaign headquarters of then-Governor Bill Clinton in 1992.

9/11 had zero to do with The Great Recession. Banks, shelving The Glass-Steagall Act re: mortgages happened on his watch. I'll blame the Iraq fiasco and his horrible handling of Katrina, also. The stupidest president until Trump came along.

Trump completely mismanaged Covid and an extra 500,000 Americans died because of him. That bastard also gave rich people a huge tax cut raising the American debt by trillions along with record bankruptcies and unemployment.

I know FDR, Clinton, Obama and Biden had to fix the Republican messes.

reply

Typical liberal version of events, sprinkled with a few lies for good measure.

reply

Prove it!

reply

Wrong.

reply

Yes, you often are.

reply

I am sometimes wrong, but you're just an outright, proven liar.

Tourism in Florida generated $5.8bn from sales taxes last year. This is wrecking the economy, according to the democrats. Meanwhile, BLM which somehow had $90m last year, now has $42m most of it spent on mansions.

reply

"Tourism in Florida generated $5.8bn from sales taxes last year. This is wrecking the economy, according to the democrats."

I love the arguments of the "conservatives" here.

First, $5.8B in sales taxes collected in 2022 tells me absolutely nothing. How much was it in 2019, before the pandemic? How much is it per capita, last year, compared to 2019, so on and so forth.

A genuine conservative would argue that EVERY tax necessarily exacts money FROM the productive economy TO the unproductive government. So yes, that is "wrecking the economy."

Also, only ten states have higher state excise taxes on gasoline than Florida (35 cents/gallon.) New York's gas tax is 18 cents/gallon, only 5 states are lower...

https://wisevoter.com/state-rankings/gas-taxes-by-state/#:~:text=The%20ten%20states%20with%20the,and%20West%20Virginia%20(%240.37)

California has ridiculously low real estate taxes. The property tax on the house my sister lives in (after my parents died) would be 6x higher if Proposition 13 didn't apply.

reply

>First, $5.8B in sales taxes collected in 2022 tells me absolutely nothing.

Of course. Facts mean nothing to the left.

>How much was it in 2019, before the pandemic?

I choose to use a search engine for facts. What do you choose? A trannie like they're using in schools now?

The budget for Florida tourism in 2019 was reduced half-way though the year so it was around the $66m mark. Not sure how much revenue was generated in sales tax but in 2018 it was $12.7 bn. Bear in mind (assuming you have one) is that a lot of revenue comes from overseas, therefore resulting in a net benefit for the USA.

>A genuine conservative would argue that EVERY tax necessarily exacts money FROM the productive economy TO the unproductive government. So yes, that is "wrecking the economy."

So the solution would be to abolish taxes. Fine. Have fun keeping the peace when the budget to the police force vanishes.

(rest of post deemed irrelevant and ignored)

"a lot of revenue comes from overseas, therefore resulting in a net benefit for the USA."

link?

reply

Honestly, the concept of "international airport" is lost on you.

reply

The term is "analysis" and it doesn't always have to do with your butt hole...

"a lot of revenue comes from overseas, therefore resulting in a net benefit for the USA."

https://www.amgintrealty.com/florida-is-the-most-visited-us-state-by-foreigners/

States most visited by foreigners in 2021
1 – Florida: 4,092,000 visitors
2 – New York: 2,099,000 visitors
3 – California: 1,113,000 visitors
4 – Texas: 621,000 visitors
5 – New Jersey: 490,000 visitors

Cities most visited by foreigners
1 – Miami: 2,759,000 visitors
2 – New York: 2,032,000 visitors
3 – Orlando: 1,223,000 visitors
4 – Los Angeles: 708,000 visitors
5 – Fort Lauderdale: 506,000 visitors

.........

So in 2021, New York had about 2x number of foreign tourists as California, and Florida had about 2x number of foreign tourists as New York.

I'm guessing Florida's COVID regulations in 2021 were much more lax than New York and California.

It would be interesting to know this same data from 2019, before the pandemic.

reply

Well since you bought in California and New York,

https://tampabayedc.com/news/how-many-people-moved-to-florida-this-past-year/

Notice how the 3 states showing the most negative domestic migration are left-wing shit holes?

reply

That trend has been true on the east coast and the rust belt for 60 years.

California will turn around. Last year, 2022, I didn't vote for any candidates, Democrat or Republican. I voted on some of the propositions.

reply

The point of the property taxes on my sister's house is that her property tax rate is 0.02% on the current value. Probably doesn't cover the cost of one cop for one day. And that shortfall will only widen as she'll likely live there for 30 years. Why doesn't Florida have property taxes like that?

reply

No idea, but if tourism is such a big industry in Florida then taxes from that would probably keep taxes from other resources low.
