Just WTF is going on with Naomi Osaka?

Last year she decided to become an "activist", but only at work, because that's what most of these athletes do. They seem to think work is for politics and social issues.

Then she started boycotting the media. Got fined for it, pulled out of the French Open and Wimbledon and it's suddenly about "mental health". She decided to get political, the media questioned her - which they do to professional athletes, then she suddenly went the "I need time off for my health" route.

And now Wimbledon:

Why do I feel like if she never got political that this wouldn't be happening? Social anxiety has never come up before. But she went political, was pressed about it, and is now retreating. Is this the new "You're a racist!"? Because this is what young "progressives" do. They want to put their beliefs out there and when they are challenged or even asked to discuss it, they throw temper tantrums and call you names. Think she genuinely has issues or she's just a brat who can't handle the heat she brought on herself?

reply

Clinical depression. Stop picking on her.

reply

Why wasn't this an issue before she became outspoken politically? She had no problem speaking her mind on the issues she wanted to talk about. But when the media - whose job it is is to interview athletes - wanted to talk to her, she suddenly has social anxiety. Why is that?

reply

Mental illness - move on

reply

Why wasn't this an issue before she became outspoken politically?

reply

Her depression began in Feb. '21.

Osaka said she would do an interview AFTER the competition was over.

The repeated interviews DURING competition were TRIGGERING STRESS which elevated her CLINICAL DEPRESSION.

Do you even watch women's tennis or do you enjoy bullying?

reply

"Her depression began in Feb. '21."

Yes, I know. You still didn't answer the question.

Do you even watch women's tennis or do you enjoy bullying?"

That's an ad hominem attack, but par for the course for you. Your attempting to deflect.

Why can't you just answer my question? I am literally asking you why wasn't this an issue before she became outspoken politically? She spoke to the media before . Now all of a sudden she can't. Why is that? Can you answer that?

reply

I can't fix your illiteracy. Reread my posts slowly or have someone read them to you.

Stop picking on her because you don't like her skin color.

reply

That doesn't explain why the media is suddenly a problem for her. She's always had to deal with the media. That's a part of the job. A job she has had since 2011. A decade of work and never any issues.

Last fall she started becoming more vocal about issues she wanted to bring awareness to. She started to wear masks with the names of people who were killed by police.

Now she has "social anxiety" and depression:

"I would never trivialize mental health or use the term lightly," she added. "The truth is that I have suffered long bouts of depression since the U.S. Open in 2018 and I have had a really hard time coping with that."

"Anyone that knows me I'm introverted," she said, "and anyone that has seen me at the tournaments will notice that I'm often wearing headphones as that helps dull my social anxiety."

Why does doing interviews bother her so much now that she had to pull out of two major tournaments, but never before? Why didn't social anxiety stop her from speaking out about political/social issues? But when SHE is asked questions she suddenly can't handle it?

reply

It's obvious you hatred for her is because of:

"she decided to become an "activist""
"She Wore 7 Masks About Black Lives "
"Osaka speaks out for Black Lives Matter"
"I feel like if she never got political"

That's in your original post! Your problem with her has more to do with her speaking out against racism.

You're intentionally pretending NOT to understand because it doesn't fall into your narrative.

She never said she didn't want to do any interviews. She wanted to do the interview AFTER her competition was over. She never did any political interviews DURING a competition, nimrod.

reply

Why are you completely incapable of stating an opinion without attack? A

These are statements of facts, LOL!!! Hatred?! WTF is wrong with you Keelai? These are literally facts. Background. You know, laying the groundwork, giving context? There's nothing hateful whatsoever in these comments. Not. A. Thing. It's a statements of facts about a story in which I give an OPINION:

"I feel like if she never got political"

I don't know why I even bothered trying to converse with you. There's no having a discussion with you. You are rabid, EXTREMELY biased, and incredibly immature. You CANNOT make a comment that isn't an angry attack, particularly if you disagree with the person you are addressing. You are extremely unstable, Keelai. Do you know that? You have A LOT of problems.

reply

Another poster and I took the time to answer your question and you still behaved as if it hadn't been answered. Your pretending to be innocent is very passive aggressive.

I don't believe online bullying of Osaka is appropriate because of her issues with depression which is why I told you to stop picking on her.

Attacking celebs isn't always cool. Carrie Fisher wrote, “Please stop debating about whether or not I aged well. Unfortunately it hurts all three of my feelings. My body hasn’t aged as well as I have.” I'm convinced the barrage of attacks had something to do with her drug relapse and eventual death.

Celebs aren't as insulated from what's written about them online as we like to think.

reply

LOL

Your a racist and a nutcase.

Not suprised.

reply

"YoUr A rAcIsT!" Jesus H. Christ, do you people really know nothing else? You don't even try. You just blurt it out. It's like you have tourettes. It doesn't even matter what you're responding to. Because questioning one person's motives is in no way, shape, or form racist. It's an absurd and moronic suggestion.

reply

Can’t you see she supports BLM so she must be insane!

reply

She was saying stupid things. Her parents scolded her and told her to stop disrespecting the country that raised her.

reply

Who cares, I don't like tennis, it's a very tedious sport now.
