The one's making these arguments most likely already own a firearm themselves or are murderers in hiding.

Tell that to the woman in California who had a restraining order against an abusive boyfriend. Restraining Orders are a joke when they involve a someone intent on doing harm or murder. The woman applied for a weapons permit. Of course being California the state dilly dallied around in granting her a permit. When she finally was granted the permit...she was dead. D-E-A-D!! By the hands of the abusive boyfriend!
It is our 2nd Amendment right to have a firearm after a 3 day check. Not have to wait 7 days or even a month!

I guess there could be exceptions made in such circumstances such as the one you've listed. If there is an intent to harm from said offender, victim should be allowed to be fast tracked in priority check.

I’m in the system, so I can go into any gun store, purchase a firearm and walk out the same day. I carry a firearm on my person instead of inside my handbag because if it is yanked from me my gun is also gone.
We’ve had two home invasions. Thank God neither one of us were home. At the time we had no homes around us...only in back. We face a main street which makes for easy pickings! It takes roughly 5 seconds to breach a door even with a deadbolt. The problem is the door jamb. Most are wood. It was repaired. After the second partial invasion (We had purchased the safety adjustable poles which stopped further entrance) we had 6 ft metal strips installed on the door jamb with extra long heavy duty screws. The cut outs for the locks made for easy installation. They can’t split the metal like they can with wood.
Im in agreement about gun control and laws in general. Laws only prohibit law abiding citizens, criminals won't follow them anyway.
Unfortunately the link you posted has some strange statstics that seem off. I live in the UK and some of those graphs are not the whole truth, the 2nd one sample size is only 4 years. Gun ownership was banned in 1997 after the Dunblane massacre. Even before that gun ownership in UK was quite low, we just don't have the same gun culture as yourself. When talking about knife crime which is on the rise unfortunatly this is usual cituated in Large inner cities like London which skew stats. In London in 1029 there were 147 murders out of a country wide 671, kinda tells you what i'm getting at that almost 1/4 of all murders in are in one city.
USA in 2019 = 16425 Reported Murders
UK in 2019 = 671 Reported Murders.
Where I live we have a population of about 140k and we get between 1 and 3 murders per year.
Again I am in agreement about gun control, stricter laws especially in the states won't stop mass shootings or murders in general.
I’m hoping with Brexit your crime rate will go down. I’ve often wondered how your police would handle a situation where a suspect in a crime has a gun or a knife to someone’s throat. Your police don’t carry weapons, but do you have what we call here...SWAT teams? A sharpshooter who could take out the perpetrator. Your punishment isn’t as strict as ours even when it’s a unspeakable crime.
