The concept of putting her likeness on American currency is quite simply because was a significant American figure. Why would she need any more justification than that? Whether Benjamin Franklin specifically should be replaced as opposed to some other Founding Father on another denomination of currency is different matter. Anyway, many countries do this, changing out the person being honored from time to time for another.
sharePutting Jackson on the $20 isn't honoring him. Read up on AJ and the Fed.
shareIssues - slavery in this case - in other countries has nothing to do with American currency. Your whole "end all slavery or don't put her on it" is a shitty argument.
I'm totally fine with putting her on currency. She was a hero and significant historical figure. My only question is why is it coming at the expense of someone else? But honoring her, no issue. Totally warranted.
American currency is not exactly only used American. I can't imagine that Harriet Tubman was a huge fan of capitalism. Considering that it lead to the selling and buying of people. Question is would she even want to be on the 20 dollar bill. Im not saying she isn't a hero or a significant historical figure. But is this really the best way to honor her. To put her on piece of paper that will be used to prop up shit she was probably against.
shareLOL, what? It doesn't matter where U.S. currency is used or that slavery isn't completely eradicated (and never will be). This is not a valid reason to not put someone on money.
shareYes, it's a great idea. I can't wait to get my hands on some of those 20s.
shareYes.
shareHow else will they find an excuse to print trillions in 20s
Many dont know this but it under Obama that the new 100s were printed.
So much physical new new money it was almost impossible to lack money. Lots of spending.
Then there was this other thing. How do you spread that money and get it into the system.
Lots of people got free 100s .
And who are these people that the govt was allegedly handing free cash to?
shareI would prefer to have Trump's Juneteenth holiday, but racist anti-forced-school-bussing Joe appears disinclined to acquiesce...
