๐Ÿฅณ ๐Ÿฅ‚ This thread is a party ๐ŸŽ‡๐Ÿคน โ™ช These are the words we use to say goodbye... โ™ช

Come one, come all, to the dancing lawn!

To celebrate the transition of presidential power, raise your glass, for a virtual bash!

We can get as close as we want in this digital space, so don't be shy!

How do you feel about this song?

Duality
https://youtu.be/6fVE8kSM43I

It was really my intro to this band, so I've always liked it, but I know it was a bit of a turning point in the evolution of their sound, and maybe fans of their other stuff don't like it.

reply

I forgot about that song. I'm not a huge fan of metal, but rock in general is my thing. I liked their first album. "Eyeless" is a banger.

reply

My favorite bands when I was twelve were The Beatles and Metallica. I definitely went more down the classic rock road, and never really delved deeply into metal until recently. It varies greatly but I'm finding a lot that I like.

"As You Said" by Cream
https://youtu.be/89z56OFLaqU

(2020 in a nutshell):

Let's go down to where it's clean
To see the time that might have been.
The tides have carried off the beach.
As you said,
The sun is out of reach.

Let's go back to where it's clean
To see what year it might have been.
The roads have carried off the smiles.
As you said,
To judge them at the trials.

Let's go back to now that's bad
To see the time we might have had.
The rails have carried off the trains.
As you said,
I'll never come again, again, again, again.

A song from my high school days that popped into my head with the turd on his way out the door:
Extreme - Get The Funk Out
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLydO3IspKU

reply

I think that's the first time I've heard an Extreme song that wasn't More Than Words. I knew that song wasn't their typical thing. I dig them.

reply

After the album my song came from, the members of the group found Jesus (hallelujah!). Their style changed after that.

reply

Naturally, because that's the most extreme thing they could think of at the time.

reply

How about this one, dedicated to the cult of Trump:
Megadeth - Symphony of Destruction
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFqkQ-bAFkk

reply

I love that track. Made me think of Speed Metal Symphony by Cacophony.

The word cacophony, meaning a harsh discordant mixture of sounds, describes perfectly the noise Trump makes when he opens his mouth.

https://youtu.be/NM17rAWKbIM

reply

Dimly remember that song, haven't heard it in a long time.

It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

An appropriate quote to sum up the last four years.

How about something more recent, and more optimistic, going into 2021:

Can't help it, though, I'm a 60's/70s kind of guy. Ray Manzarek's song "He Can't Come Today" from 1974 covers some similiar territory to "Cult of Personality":
