Tuesday's Great Pardoning

Press is reporting 100 pardons. Is that some sort of limit?

We can count on Trump pardoning his immediate family. Likely Giuliani and Bannon. Assange? That's ~10. Not going to be the rioters.

He won't pardon Assange as Assange was a useful tool to him just like Pence was. Besides Assange hasn't been convicted of anything. Trump is going to pardon only the biggest crooks and thieves who bribed him to. Giuliani hasn't yet been convicted either.

Trump will fly out of DC at '8am Wednesday' after 'issuing 100 pardons to white-collar criminals, high-profile rappers and a jailed Palm Beach eye doctor' on his final full day in office. Trump allies have collected tens of thousands of dollars from pardon seekers

Personally I don't think he should be allowed to fly. He should be captured and prevented from escaping the country.

Doesn't work that way. Don't need to be convicted.

He could pardon 1000 people on Tuesday and he’d still be far behind Obama’s record number.

Trump may pardon Lil Wayne, release men jailed by Biden drug laws

Lil Wayne, who effectively endorsed Trump for re-election, is said to be among the pardon recipients, the source said. The rapper recently pleaded guilty to illegally possessing a gun, which wasn’t allowed due to a prior felony conviction.

Also expected to receive clemency are lesser-known people serving long prison sentences under Biden’s 1994 crime law. At least two men serving life in prison for marijuana dealing under the Biden law’s three-strikes provision, paraplegic Michael Pelletier, 64, and Corvain Cooper, 41, asked Trump to release them.

It remains unclear whether Trump will issue more divisive pardons that have seen fierce disagreement among his inner circle, including for mass surveillance whistleblower Edward Snowden. Trump said last year he was considering a pardon for Snowden. Republicans who support and oppose Snowden have been lobbying Trump.

Why should convicted felons be allowed to carry loaded weapons on planes?

reply

I hope he pardons everyone in the federal prison system.
