Guess we're not having another insurrection or civil war :/

Way too many military and police presence. Up to 20,000+ in DC, meter sized fences, concrete barriers, vehicle roadblocks, and more on standby, all armed. This I think imo is proof you can't go against the government. Your little 2nd amendment of the right to bear arms against a tyrannical government is a fairy tale. :P

Looks like the mostly White militia can't wage their little civil war when they're outnumbered 99 to 1. Maybe we'll get some action on Capitol statehouses around the 50 states. Guess the popcorn is going to go stale.

What they want are their supporters being mowed down as martyrs in other cities on TV as Biden's inauguration is happening safely in D.C.. This assumes they will score no upsets outside of D.C. and will only experience losses. Perhaps, some cops and off-duty military will join in the fray. The establishment holding with Biden (surrounded by what Trump supporters regard as sold-out elites) and backed up by 20,000 soldiers under orders, will be contrasted with the images of "patriots" voluntarily putting their lives at risk and acting on their own initiative. From their point of view, this proves that Biden lacks legitimacy since his inauguration could only proceed in a locked down police-state environment. Split-screen footage of Biden being sworn in while chaos is happening in other places would cast a pall over his presidency - if they could pull it off. If this strategy is a winner is less important than whether they can convince themselves that it is (and I believe many of them can and will). They will keep chipping away at the system until they believe it will finally collapse under it's own weight. They look at this as the Russian Revolution of 1905, which though it failed, lead ultimately to the successful 1917 Revolution. Unfortunately, what they forget is that there we actually TWO revolutions in 1917. A repeat of the original October Surprise would be much less to their liking.

Hmm, true that. Forgot some of the cops and possibly some soldiers supported the siege. Interesting history comparison, I'll have to look those 2 dates up. I think though the US military is more loyal to the constitution and stronger than our Russian counterparts of the past overall.

The problem is we're careening towards an Inauguration while an investigation is ongoing, the results of which will come too later to help us assess the danger we're in now. It's likely our institutions are still too strong right now, but Trump's supporters will likely look at that defeat through the same lens the Bolshevik's did. Meaning, we could be dealing with this for at least a decade or longer, and a truly civilization breaking event (like World War I) could push them over the top. Could a second strain of COVID-19 coupled with a dud vaccine lead to a truly catastrophic economic collapse in the near future?

Thank you for the race report added in there! I needed that update. 🤣

I guess the “mostly male” posters on here can get back to bitching about something else.

Didn’t that become a funny meme that ripped on CNN during the BLM riots? There were buildings ablaze in the background on CNN with a headline that read “mostly peaceful protests” going on? I love it! Haha.
