Remember when the media told Gore to concede?

Neither do I. The election was called on On December 12, so we have a long ways to go still.

reply

Actually the press declared Bush the winner the next day. But then there was the issue with Florida and the ballots in George's brother's constituency.

reply

So answer the question? Did Gore concede?

reply

Yes...

reply

I have to add this because I see your responding in the context that another user framed it. He was not declared "the winner" the next day.

The networks all retracted the Florida call AGAIN by 3:00-4:00 A.M "the next day".

And this went on and on and on...

reply

Supreme Court of the United States
Argued December 11, 2000
Decided December 12, 2000

Gore conceded on Dec 13.

Recounts are still ongoing and the electoral college has yet to make a decision.

reply

There was no viable path forward following the decision. He could have TRIED to steal a couple of faithless electors...but that was about it.

The Supreme Court decision sealed the deal.

reply

Yup, we will have to wait for the official decision from the Electoral College or The Supreme Court. But for now Trump is President and Biden is not president-elect.

reply

Well don't let this wreck your Thanksgiving or Christmas.

The rest of the world is moving on...

reply

And yet you seemed to have failed to recognize the date. What date is it currently, pray tell?

I mean, duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

Now shouldn't you be bitching and moan at the media for pressing for concession so early???

reply

The question was "Remember when the media told Gore to concede?". Loser.

reply

Again. What date did Gore concede? Is that all you care about or are you siding with left wing media pressing Trump to concede now while the vote is still being contested? Pray tell, indoctrinated stooge.

reply

Biden is ahead of all states, recounts won't change anything if he is up thousands

reply

That's because Gore and Bush were essentially tied forever. Florida was so close that it was within the margin where each count could decide a new winner.

Biden was declared the winner because he is well beyond that statistical margin.

You can argue it's not over until Trump decides to stop litigating it, but he's only litigating it to get his sheep to pay off his debt.

reply

I remember that election. I was 14 years old, and had to hear all about it on tv. The problem with this one compared to that one is, things aren't as clear-cut. With Gore vs. Bush, it was the state of Florida and Florida alone that was being contested by votes, whereas we have 5 or 6 states involved this time around.

reply

omg you made a coherent comment ;0 did someone hack your account

reply

Gore did concede and Trump won't because he knows the popular votes means nothing and still hopes he can bribe a few electoral votes his way

reply

Florida's votes gave Bush, the Republican candidate, 271 electoral votes, one more than the 270 required to win the Electoral College. This meant the defeat of Democratic candidate Al Gore, who won 267 electoral votes (but actually received only 266, as a "faithless elector" from the District of Columbia abstained from voting).

Because of the close margin - on election night Mr Bush led by 1,784 votes - an automatic recount was called under Florida law and began the next day. It reduced the margin to 327 votes. The final margin was 537 votes out of a total of almost six million cast in the state.

Mr Gore conceded, saying that while he disagreed with the court's decision, he accepted it.

"I accept the finality of this outcome which will be ratified next Monday in the electoral college. And tonight, for the sake of our unity as a people and the strength of our democracy, I offer my concession," he said.

Although he lost the election, Mr Gore took 48.38% of the nationwide total vote to Mr Bush's 47.87%.

You forgot that Gore and Bush were only around 500 votes apart while Trump and Biden are 10,000+ apart... Nationwide vote is Biden 50.9% to Trump's 47.3% (5.5 million difference). -_-

reply

remember when gore v bush was based on 1 state, not 5. remember when Florida was a difference of 500 votes, not 10s of thousands

remember when you used common sense, facts and logic to support your position, not simp for your candidate who is whining.

reply

Gore had cause to complain ... when the dust settled after W was APPOINTED President, and all the Florida votes were counted, Gore had won the state and should have been President. He was a timid fool and cost the country many trillions of dollars and lives.
