I cannot BELIEVE that QAnon is actually gaining traction here...

https://www.yahoo.com/news/republican-embrace-qanon-goes-far-120500916.html

Ever since Trump, our nation has felt like Bizarro World. Now this QAnon shit. We've become a nation of cultists.

This QAnon bullshit is growing scarier than Trump, to be honest. Even after Trump is gone this January we'll still have this psycho QAnon cult to deal with--not to mention one of its psycho members has a platform in the republican party now.

Trump didn't create them--he fueled them, just like the other extremist groups in our nation. It's catching on with some people I know as well. As I've stated before, I am surrounded by Trump supporters in my workplace. Just the other day, a few of them were blasting BLM and calling them terrorists. They also defended QAnon and one of them said: "Hey, there's gotta SOME truth to what they're saying because a lot of them are saying it!".

Another one that I don't see often came by a month ago. Guy is super religious and keeps saying Trump is "Manna sent from heaven" and that "demons are controlling the democrats". This guy was pushing a conspiracy theory that COVID-19 is a multi-shadow government plan that celebrities (He specifically named Tom Hanks and his wife as two "members" of it) are all "in on" with the intention of destroying the elderly population to "save" social security.

This is the kind of shit that is being given a platform now. It's always existed--you can find these sorts of conspiracy nuts in any trailer park or Walmart or, if you've ever worked in a factory, you'll know them as "That loud political guy in the break room". Because of President Cheeseburger, these psychos finally have a voice and feel emboldened to start their bullshit.

Well after Trump is gone, we'll still have these nutcases on our hands and they're NOT going away.

Trump is the Pied Piper or Moronity ... he is a moron and somehow he has the power to herd other morons into a moronic mob that he then can somehow convince to vote. But that has been the Republican's goal since after the Civil War ... take advantage of the racists, look for the stupid, the religious crazies, and manipulate them for the benefit of the really rich but selfish and vile who want to keep everyone else down.

reply

Everyone should start wearing red shoes. The QAnon folks will all have heart attacks!

reply

Really you're that surprised? I'm not. American culture and popular discourse is saturated in speculation about conspiracy theories, cover-ups, and pseudoscience.
Turn on the TV or browse the web for a day and how soon before you hear the worst kind of claptrap about 9/11, the JFK assassination, Bigfoot, the Moon landings, Intelligent design, the Holocaust deniers, the Obama birthers, the antisemitic memes about George Soros, the Illuminati, the Rosicrucians, white genocide, Roswell landings, FEMA camps, Agenda 21. Remember that one? Agenda 21?
Yup, we're stuck with these fuckers.

reply

You left out the post office. Seems like you’re one of them.

reply

He also left out the 3 yrs of non stop reporting of a complete hoax as if was true. The Russia Hoax.

reply

What I'm surprised by isn't the fact that we're surrounded by these nutcases--I'm surprised by how quickly they have gained a platform and influence. It's happening at warp speed. All it really took was one nutcase president to push it.

Scary how fast we're sinking now.

reply

And they procreate - for future generations of nutcases. That's what is scariest.

reply

Indeed...

reply

Wow the fake news liberal media is really desperate to draw attention away from the actual lunatics on the Dem side.

Truthers, birthers, moon-landing hoaxers, anti-vaccers, flat-earthers, red-pilling, anti-maskers, qAnon, it all comes from a distrust of the media. Certain people like to think they know better and it makes them feel good to think the majority is wrong.

It doesn't bother me so much, but when they win seats it's a problem. After Trump is gone, qAnon will still be around as all of the conspiracy nuts mentioned above will, but they won't be winning seats like they are now. The GOP will consider Trump an error that has been remedied and they will all quickly go back to being openly corporate. And there's no way the corporate elites can have their candidates oppose the media since they are all tied together.

With no major party giving soft support to it, qAnon will all have to go back to reddit and 4chan.

reply

You forgot the post office too. I guess that makes you a nut,eh? Oh, don’t forget the cages built by Trump too.

Have done anything about rectifying your white privilege yet? Every day you keep your job, you occupy that job for a more deserving person of color.

reply

And of course the thing is that these QAnon supposed nutjobs are actually part of the Grand World Conspiracy. Their job is to be so whack-a-doodle that they make all conspiracy theorists look like nutjobs by association.

reply

Yes it's very scary. No doubt defunding education has played a role in this, as well as the internet. Qanon and other conspiracy theorists have no place in real politics. Political fiction would be OK but not real life.
