Birx says we should wear a mask at home

She's nuts.

reply

Right! I wear a face mask when I go outside to go shopping, etc. But not at home! Why should I?

reply

They keep pushing it further and further.
Should I wear one in the shower too? How about to bed?
Should I wear the goggles at home too? Perhaps put some cement in my ears and wear a hazmat suit?

reply

CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES...I COULD SEE IT...MY MOTHER AND FATHER MOVED IN WITH ME...BOTH LIVE THEIR OUTSIDE OF THE HOUSE,MY WIFE IS AN ESSENTIAL WORKER...IF WE WERE TO ALL GET IT...WE WOULD WISH WE HAD WORN THE MASKS AT HOME.

reply

Sure but wouldn't it make more sense to keep them separated as much as possible from others (and they have use of their own bathroom if available) but when any of you had to get near them, then you both wear masks?
I can understand that.

reply

Where is that? Any link to it?

reply

Here's a link to the story:

https://www.gizmodo.com.au/2020/08/birx-says-coronavirus-outbreak-is-extraordinarily-widespread-recommends-some-wear-masks-at-home/

When the quote is read in it's entirety it seems perfectly reasonable:

“More importantly, if you’re in multi-generational households and there’s an outbreak in your rural area or in your city, you need to really consider wearing a mask at home, assuming that you’re positive, if you have individuals in your households with comorbidities,” Birx said.

Not so nuts, then.

reply

Exactly. And we should "really consider" it. Not exactly a frontal assault on freedom.

reply

Just more fake news then. She was on some show earlier in the day and the news said Birx recommends wearing a mask at home now, then showed the clip of her saying that but then moved on to the next story without adding more context to what she said.

Are we so stupid not to understand that of course if there are people living in the same house who would be considered high risk, extra precautions should be taken? Do we have to wait for the "experts" to give us that advice? I know several people who have either an elderly parent living with them or someone who would be at high risk who've been practicing extra precautions without Birx or Fauci saying so. It's common sense.

reply

Only if there’s an infected person in yr family.
She’s just trying to save lives.
Jeez

reply

Things I thought I would never see! But, then why am I not surprised? As I frequently write...this country has gone stark raving mad!😱

I opened the link to read about Dr. Birx + masks. I didn’t get very far because this caught my eye...er eyes!😳😳

People Are Apparently Jerking Off With Their Phones During the Pandemic

https://www.gizmodo.com.au/2020/08/people-are-apparently-jerking-off-with-their-phones-during-the-pandemic/

I also don’t know if this is hygienic. I mean, do people clean their phone before putting it near their genitalia? I think that would be very important. We are living through a pandemic that has strained or outright collapsed hospitals all over the world. I for one do not think that health care professionals would be very pleased to have to treat you over a coronavirus patient because you got an infection for using your dirty phone to jerk off.

If you needed another reason to carry hand sanitiser around, just remember that at least 1.6 million people worldwide downloaded a vibrator app in July. I would simply suggest not to touch anyone’s phone other than your own. But if you have to, sanitise your hands (and their phone if they let you.)
Eww! 🤢

Even BEFORE Covid, I read that one's phone had more bacteria on it than one's toilet! 😲

reply

Yes, I believe that. Just look at people's phones. Ugly as hell.
I loved to use hand sanitizer even before the pandemic and cleaned my phone at least once a day or when coming back home from outside. And I don't even think that's enough. That's why I try not to touch other people's phones. I wanna stay healthy 😛

reply

MOST masks that are available are terrible for their intended purpose.

We are all wearing masks to make others feel better. It doesn't help in part because our masks are so inferior.

WASH YOUR HANDS OFTEN. This is more important.

reply

Completely agree, TimMC.

It's funny because when masks started to become "required," we were told masks should be discarded after 20-30 minutes of use and replaced with a new one. They never mention this anymore and I've never seen one person do this. Even on this board I haven't seen anyone talk about it.

These masks are a false sense of security.

I've always been a hand washer...I don't mean obsessively, I just mean I would wash my hands after doing things. Before (and after depending) eating, after handling dirty laundry, after taking the dog out, after going to my mailbox, after going to the bathroom (I know, it's sad that I have to add this but there are people who don't wash after), after going grocery shopping, etc.

For ages I have worn a mask while cleaning out the litterbox! 🤢 I would buy them at the dollar store, 10 in a pack. Now I can't find them there. 😠
