Gallup Poll: Trump's approval at a dismal 38% with less than four months to go till election
A new Gallup Poll shows Trump's approval holding at just 38%, with less than four months to go till election day. The poll shows a 'record partisan gap' with 91% of Republicans showing their approval, and only 2% of Democrats. Only 33% of Independents approve of the job he's doing.
Trump's approval dropped to 38% since early June, when he couldn't control the racial injustice uproar in the country, on top of the Pandemic which started to surge once again. The poll was taken from June 8 - June 30.
Before he dropped to 38%, Gallup had his approval at 47% (most other polls averaged 42%). A big decrease came from groups that are typically more favorable to him, including non-Hispanic white Americans, men, older Americans, Southerners and those without a college degree.
Trump now joins former Presidents George HW Bush (1989-93) and President Jimmy Carter (1977-81) both one-term Presidents who had an approval rating of less than 40% in June of their incumbent re-election year. On the other hand, President Obama saw his approval rating soar in the summer of 2012, his incumbent re-election year.
