The country is divided only because the Republicans hold an iron grip on the media, the voting process, and have a lock on the electoral college. Also billionaires and corporations are over-representing in our elections and campaigns.
When you look at polling information from the vast majority of people they support Liberal policies, and yet when you look at what the government produces it is more repression and tax cuts for the rich and cuts in social programs. Almost everything we see in the media is designed to support the status quo, but make us think we are all right-wing gun nuts about to go on a rampage.
In the last 30 years how American used to treat other countries has turned inward and we are now treating our own people like insurgents and terrorists.

Fix the country by getting rid of the electoral college for one. CA could be split up into two states. D.C. whose population is bigger than Vermont should be a state, and Puerto Rico as well. That would equal the balance out a little.
Oh, and shove your mention of Cuba and Venezuela, the fact that you and other Conservatives simply cannot make any kind of statement with our insulting or ridiculous injections of untruth in them.
