General Mattis scorches T-rump in 'extraordinary j'accuse', describes him as a 'Threat to the Constitution'
Former Secretary of Defense James Mattis, an esteemed Marine general who resigned from the T-rump administration at the end of 2018, has denounced T-rump in an oped for The Atlantic, and described him as 'a Threat to the Constitution'.
The distinguished general, who has been silent for the past eighteen months, wrote what's being called 'an extraordinary j'accuse' for the publication. He accuses him of dividing America, and ordering the U.S. military to violate the constitutional rights of American citizens.
“Donald Trump is the first president in my lifetime who does not try to unite the American people—does not even pretend to try. Instead, he tries to divide us,” Mattis writes. “We are witnessing the consequences of three years of this deliberate effort. We are witnessing the consequences of three years without mature leadership. We can unite without him, drawing on the strengths inherent in our civil society. This will not be easy, as the past few days have shown, but we owe it to our fellow citizens; to past generations that bled to defend our promise; and to our children.”
In his usual defense, T-rump called Mattis one of his 'terrible hires' and Tweeted this:
"Probably the only thing Barack Obama & I have in common is that we both had the honor of firing Jim Mattis, the world’s most overrated General. I asked for his letter of resignation, & felt great about it. His nickname was “Chaos”, which I didn’t like, & changed to “Mad Dog”..."
It's quite different from what T-rump Tweeted about Mattis upon his resignation eighteen months ago:
"General Jim Mattis will be retiring, with distinction, at the end of February, after having served my Administration as Secretary of Defense for the past two years. During Jim’s tenure, tremendous progress has been made, especially with respect to the purchase of new fighting..."
