Are 1950s whites who protested against blacks moving into their neighborhood vindicated by history?

If the neighborhood became a black community and is now a gang/drug den with rotting houses and economic depression?

Can you call them racist if they thought 'they'll ruin our neighborhood' and guess what, they did?

reply

Racism is stating that some race, ethnic group, nation or similar is better or worse than others.

What they do is irrelevant. If some race or ethnic group A creates wealth, and makes science, technology and arts progress, and then some race or ethnic group B brings poverty, gangs, lawbreaking and crime, you should state they're the same, no exception. Stating, for example, that A is better than B, that's racist.

It's obvious that you're either racist, or in self-denial. To say it clearly: wise people are racist. But that's another story.

reply

What if we don't say 'race' but 'people' or 'cultural group?'

I have problems with certain cultures taking hold.

reply

That's irrelevant. No matter you're talking about races or cultural groups, the term keeps being racist.

Very true. Like, if white Europeans were held responsible for the past crimes of white Europeans, then most white people would be racially discriminated against.

Of course, but... are you sure you wanna go that way?

Because the cultures that had the shortest periods of slavery in history were white Europeans and Asians. On the other hand, slavery was extremely common in Muslim countries for centuries. And even longer in sub-saharian Africa.

Besides that, blacks in Africa exterminated everyone around. What you call 'blacks' are mostly bantu. Those guys slowly invaded the whole continent, killing every other group. Nice, huh?

And then you have to put it in a balance with what they've created: culture, art, science, technology. At the end of the day and all things considered, positive and negative, both white European and East-Asians have a much better balance than other cultures. And among those, blacks have the worst balance of all: they had slaves for millennia, they genocided a whole continent... and in exchange... well, they gave nothing to the world.

"blacks have the worst balance of all: they had slaves for millennia, they genocided a whole continent... and in exchange... well, they gave nothing to the world."

I think we should all just sit back and let that vile statement settle in.

Kukuxu believes "blacks gave nothing to the world" and yet if we called him racist, oh the pearl clutching that would ensue.

Hope you don't listen to rock and roll or blues or jazz music, or use a home security system, or look at three-light traffic lights, or step through automatic elevator doors, or enjoy light from a carbon light bulb filament and electric lamp, or use a colour PC monitor, or need blood plasma separated and stored for later use, or use a clothes dryer, or ever need to use a gas mask, or eat a potato chip - because they were all courtesy of those people that gave nothing to the world.

Let's hear your contribution - other than making thinly veiled racist comments on the internet, that is.

reply

■ jazz - yeap, that could be considered the only important contribution black have done... in the last 20 centuries. An even though, whites had a very important contribution. Most jazz harmony theory was developed by whites in early XXth century.

■ three-light traffic lights - Nope. Traffic lights were invented by a bunch of very white dudes.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traffic_light#History

The three one in particular... well, that too
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Potts_(inventor)

■ carbon light bulb filament and electric lamp - Nope. Those were invented by more white dudes.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incandescent_light_bulb#Early_pre-commercial_research

■ colour PC monitor - Nope. The color monitor was just a color TV, and that was developed by whites.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Television#Color

The graphic card that allowed to use colors was developed by IBM, with a bunch of very white dudes
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_Graphics_Adapter

■ or need blood plasma - Nope. Blood plasma was developed by a guy from Catalunya, Spain. Another white dude.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_plasma#History

■ automatic elevator doors - Yeap, finally, that was developed by a black guy. One thing. There must be towns in Germany that have contributed to the world more than the whole black race.

reply

Dr. Charles Drew – He invented a method of separating and storing plasma, allowing it to be dehydrated and banked for later use, Dr. Drew was the first black person awarded a doctorate at Columbia University.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_R._Drew

Lewis Latimer – He invented electric lamps and the carbon filament inside light bulbs.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lewis_Howard_Latimer

Marie Van Brittan Brown - She invented the first home security system.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marie_Van_Brittan_Brown

Garret Morgan - His most notable inventions were a three position traffic signal and a smoke hood notably used in a 1916 tunnel construction disaster rescue. Morgan also discovered and developed a chemical hair-processing and straightening solution.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garrett_Morgan

Mark Dean - Dean began working for IBM as a chief engineer in the early 1980s, making up a team of 12 people who would develop the first IBM PC. In addition to helping create IBM’s original machine in his early years with the company, he also worked to develop the color monitor and led the team that developed the first gigahertz processor. The massive chip, built in 1999, would allow for for higher processing rates at faster speeds within PCs.

But by all means, deny these people their achievements because of their skin colour.

And again, what have you contributed to society?

reply

■ Lewis Lattimer. According to the wiki, he invented incadescent light bulb with a carbon filament in 1881. The only problem is that... that was already invented 50 years before! 😄
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incandescent_light_bulb#Early_pre-commercial_research

But hey, the wiki has become very inclusive, so they included him too. I'm sure there will be some black guy who reinvented the print and some other black guy who reinvented the traffic lights too! 😄

■ Garret Morgan. And here we have the guy who reinvented the traffic lights! According to the wiki "he filed a patent for a traffic control device having a third "warning" position in 1922. The patent was granted in 1923,[20] though this was not the first system with a warning, a three-light system being invented in 1920 by William Potts".

So another black guy "inventing" things that were already invented by whites 😄

■ Marie Van Brittan Brown. The gal who invented Closed-circuit television security systems... the only problem is that the system was invented by evil Russian communists in 1927 (by the way: evil Russian communists were white dudes too 😄)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Closed-circuit_television#History

In US you had it commercially available in 1949. And then... Marie Van Brittan Brown "invented" it in 1966, 15 years after it was commercially available. 😄

The rest, I guess it's similar, and you bored me with you "black inventors" that invented things that were already invented by white dudes years before. The wiki is very inclusive and include them, so they're not called 'racists' (ah, that black privilege), but I had enough black guys "inventing" things for today. If you excuse me, I'll be busy discovering the penicillin, perhaps if I say I'm black the wiki will include me too! 😄

reply

Oh buddy, I was bored when I saw your name, so no hard feelings.

In a nutshell, with some exception (the guy who invented automatic doors), nope, those black guys didn't invent it.

They made some small improvements, though. That's not strange. Any invention you can imagine, a couple of guys did the big discovery or development, and then dozens and dozens of people contributed with small improvements. Because of modern race politics, if one of those guys who made small improvements happens to be black, it's singled out and celebrated as he was the true inventor. It's ridiculous.

reply

No, the OP is not "obviously" racist. You are in denial of the truth due to typical PC crap. And it doesn't matter why a certain ethnic group is more lawless in proportion to other races--they fact is, they are.
''...but, but, whites also break the law' and blacks have made contributions": that's the usual comeback in discussions like this which means squat.

reply

Just making a wild guess here: that neighborhood was trashy before the first black person moved in.

reply

White areas of New Orleans that became black are now hell holes.

reply

And Detroit. And Baltimore. And...

reply

And South Central L.A and the Sam Fernando Valley: trashed by our Central American comrades

reply

It's all good now, didn't you get the memo? That's why it's call "South L.A." now.

True story: George H.W. Bush and Littleboots are "straight outta Compton."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watts_riots

That place has been bad for a long, long time.

Someone told me 30 years ago that South Central had more Central Americans than African Americans. But everywhere else in Southern California, as far as Hispanics are concerned, Mexicans outnumber other Latin Americans by 10-1 or more. (I pulled that number out of my butt.)

reply

Their neighborhood? African-Americans have lived in the U.S. longer than 90% of whites who are recent immigrants like Trump. He's only second generation - barely American.

reply

Yes, if a neighborhood is predominantly white, built by white folks, then it's a white neighbourhood.

reply

"prominently"

Sounds like you grew up in a trashy white neighborhood with bad schools.

reply

You know this clown is from Australia so when he says things like “white folks” which no one in Australia would ever say, you know he is clearly baiting, I suppose trying to appeal to a certain demographic in America that might support his prejudiced views. It would be laughable were it not so tragically transparent.

reply

"predominantly"

There ya' go. Nice edit.

"neighbourhood"

Bad on me for not seeing that. Do you smoke fags?

reply

No I don't smoke fags. I don't smoke.

reply

Yeah I saw this bullshit thread was deleted from General Discussion, quite rightly too.

You obviously think they are vindicated so any response I give to your rhetorical question would be redundant. You don’t like blacks living near you. Awesome. Good chat.

reply

It's not racial, it's socioeconomic and cultural. I wouldn't want white trash Hicks moving in. Is that racist too? Nice try. "Good chat."

reply

Sure, you referred to “blacks” in the title of your clever little thread, because you were speaking generally in a socioeconomic sense about all races. That’s plausible.

Where did I say racist? Defensive much?

reply

Not sure about the state of the neighborhoods vindicating them.

A better question would be: does the fact that the Democrat party left and black exploitationists are now pushing for segregation in schools and neighborhoods vindicate the pro segregation Democrats from the 1950s?

reply

"the Democrat party left and black exploitationists are now pushing for segregation in schools and neighborhoods"

wut

reply

America made a terrible mistake when greed tempted some of them to use slaves to get rich.

reply

We just "deregulate" corporations and allow them to treat everyone as slaves now. Simple fix.

reply

Good thing we got rid of it 140 years ago.

reply

Only half of it. The slavery was abolished, but the former slaves weren't sent back to Africa. Leaving the job unfinished was another big mistake.
