Stay safe everyone.

I agree. People even say a flu is a virus and many more people die of flu. If it were a flu why has it been so contagious and deadly?

reply

In 4 months so far, Coronavirus, at 60,000 deaths, is 175,000 less than an average 4 month period of flu season. And this takes into account the period when people were not social-distancing or taking many precautions.

reply

Damn! Who knew flu killed so much.

reply

Globally, the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that the flu kills 290,000 to 650,000 people per year. Averaged out, that is 470,000 per year. Flu season is 8 months long. Half of 470,000 = 235,000 flu deaths in 4 months... vs. 60,000 coronavirus deaths in 4 months (And that takes into account the period where social distancing was not yet common practice.

reply

Yea I looked it up and agree. I never knew the flu was so dangerous and have had it many times and lived through it without medication. It’s terrible how society down plays the flu.

reply

Flu doesn't have the same 'star quality' as coronavirus, I guess. Probably a good thing, because then the media would get hold of it and we would be locked down for 8 months every single year.

Another terrible thing about flu is that it kills far more young children and babies than coronavirus has.

reply

Let's give it another 2 to 4 weeks at least before passing a final judgement on how COVID-19 compares to the flu. And don't forget to factor in a possible second wave in autumn if no effective medical treatment is found...so even a month from now won't give us a full picture, but we will at least have a good idea of how big the frame is.

reply

Make it a year with the corona taking the other 4.

reply

Don't worry, Stable Genius II - there should be another 200,000 deaths to come in the next two weeks. Even Stable Genius T-rump has predicted this 'grim reality' in his presser today.

So we should be beating the deaths from flu. But don't believe the facts...

reply

Quite an eager-sounding forecast from Doggiedaddy! I can almost hear the dry rasping of his palms rubbing together.

reply

Did you hear the dry rasping of his palms rubbing together from T-rump, too ? Listen closely, Stable Genius II.

That's where I got the information from today. He said it's a grim reality and he's the one who said about another 200,000 deaths in the next two weeks. I guess his eagerness transferred well onto this forum via my post ?

reply

Big difference... He sounded concerned and worried. You sound excited and triumphant.

reply

I don't 'sound' anything at all, as there's no audio on this forum.

reply

If you don't understand the impact of tone in one's writing, I can refer you to some writing sites... Your writing on the subject of the coronavirus and resulting deaths has a gloating, almost gleeful tone.

reply

trump's a sick joke being played on us. he never sounded concerned for anyone until this crisis hit. Now we've supposed to believe he's a thoughtful person? If it weren't so grim it would be hilarious. Sure, keep propping trump up like he's anything but a stupid narcissist who thinks he can play us all for rubes, but most of us recognize him for the fool he is. Like a bad comedian on stage.

reply

You want a sick joke? It's trying to pass BIDEN off as a capable leader for the free world.

reply

He wouldn't fire every competent person for not kissing his ass. That's what your buddy dies.

reply

Biden's a feeble-minded old fool who can't even get a thought into words. He'd be a meaningless puppet figurehead. Who would his puppeteer be? Why aren't they running for the Presidency?

reply

Oh he does not. Quit sounding like a twit on a public forum.

reply

Yes, he does. Every setback and problem, every rise in death tolls, he and others like him who have a vested interest in the pandemic being as bad as possible come on and crow like roosters from the rooftops. The more bad things happen, the more they think they can blame it on Trump.

reply

You accused him of sounding bad for repeating information that came FROM President Trump. So it's a bad forecast with glee from doggie, but not the President??

Nice hypocrisy there!

reply

No. Trump's verbal tone was grave and concerned. doggiedaddy wrote in a gloating, gleeful tone. The tone is what's important here.

reply

You should probably see a therapist... when this is over.

reply

I'm not the one on here 24 hours a day posting gloating hate about increasing virus deaths, am I? Not like Doggiedaddy with his 15K posts...
