Bernie faces backlash from Nazis

"If elected, Sanders would be America's first Jewish president. Sanders' extended family from Poland was killed in the Holocaust during World War II. That was a fact referenced in a tweet from Biden condemning the act.

"I don't care who you're supporting, attacks like this against a man who could be the first Jewish President are disgusting and beyond the pale," Biden tweeted. "Hatred and bigotry have no place in America — and it's up to all of us to root out these evils wherever they're found."
During a CNN town hall in February, Sanders opened up about his Jewish heritage, saying it "impacts me very profoundly" and has greatly shaped his world view.

"I think at a very early age, even before my political thoughts were developed, I was aware of the horrible things that human beings can do to other people in the name of racism, of white nationalism or, in this case, Nazism," Sanders said. "The pain that my family, my father's family suffered in Poland is something that has impacted my life."

Assault, harassment and vandalism against Jews remain at near-historic levels, according to the Anti-Defamation League."

Still no sign of antifa.

I absolutely cannot tolerate Socialist/Communist Bernie, but I despise Neo-NAZIs. How dare the scumbag unfurl a swastika flag! I wish we could still tar and feather pond scum such as this guy! 🤬 I hope he was literally kicked out! Shameful and disgraceful we still have sub humans like him in this country.

And please for God’s sake don’t bring Trump into the mix! I will agree with you when you state the facts, but you lose me when you blame everything on Trump and his voters. Don’t forget the vile threats coming from Schumer’s mouth.

reply

I've never blamed Trump for Nazism or white nationalism. And since you want me to state the facts, I will.

Trump isn't responsible for their existence, but he is party responsible for their brazenness to out themselves publicly. Notice I said partly. Trump aligned himself with Breitbart years ago (it's how Steve Bannon entered his campaign) which has huge ties to white nationalism. Bannon got kicked out of Trump's admin because he couldn't help clashing heads with Kushner who Bannon never got along with because Kushner is Jewish.

I would argue Trump's removal of Bannon was a step away from white nationalism/Nazism that was definitely needed. It just sucks that it entered his administration in the first place.

However we still have Stephen Miller who has the same ties to white nationalism. Say what you will about socialist/communist/marxist/maoist or whatever label you have of Bernie/Obama/Hillary/Pelosi/Schiff but none of them have ties to pure hatred.

reply

For years all of you have branded Trump racist due to his associations of certain people. But, I don’t see the same condemnation of Bernie who associates with Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib. Omar is defined by her anti-Israel/anti-Jew statements. She married her brother so he could enter the US. When she rants against Jews, Trump, and the US, I think of her being a Somalian refugee who should be kissing the ground she walks on!

BTW, please explain white nationalism. If a person is white (caucasian) and proud of his/her nation wouldn’t that person be a white nationalist? Is love of country not permitted today? I have a feeling white nationalist is yet another term which has been changed to a negative.

reply

A white nationalist is not a nationalist who is white. The white in white nationalist means that nationalism is connected to whiteness, meaning they believe the US should be a country of white people. The alt-right thinks they can pretend white nationalist means American nationalist, but they are kidding themselves.

Bernie is Jewish so any criticism that he's anti-Semitic gets dismissed pretty early. Omar has been critical of Israel, but has been even more critical of Saudi Arabia. Omar has repeated the same things said by white republican politicians about Israel, but they single her out because she has Islamic roots.

reply

“Hillary/Pelosi/Schiff” have espoused hatred toward Trump and his voters.

“You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump's supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right? They're racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic – Islamophobic – you name it.”

Doesn’t get more hateful than that!

reply

Yeah, but its unfortunately true

reply

Says all the left wingers. I beg to differ. It’s very unfair to broad brush Trump voters. Apparently you haven’t noticed who’s at his rallies. A mixture of folks from every day life.

reply

I don't agree with her deplorables comment, but that was at a time where she was being hammered by spirit cooking and pizzagate accusations. Those conspiracies were by every meaning of the word deplorable. It's a much different time now that Infowars has been deplatformed, but in 2016 it wasn't unreasonable to assume 50% of Trump's base was on board with the pizzagate conspiracy. Roger Stone is still pushing pizzagate to this day, and he was a key member of Trump's campaign.

Not to mention, his rise within the alt-right started in 2011 when he hopped on the conspiracy that Obama was born in Kenya. Who were the deplorables that cooked up that stuff? Stone, Corsi, Bannon, all of which are Trump's associates. That's Trump working hand in hand with Infowars(Stone), WorldNetDaily(Corsi), and Breitbart(Bannon), with all of those outlets getting neo-Nazi/white nationalist viewership who loved the idea of Obama not being born in this country.

I'm sorry that those facts are inconvenient, but there's nothing I can do about it.

Forgive me for stepping in as a member of the Word Police. I wrote about this not too long ago. Deplorables is not a noun. It is not a legal word. Deplorable is an adjective. But, “deplorables” has been added to the lexicon due to Hillary. It was Hillary speak and will become a common word. History will prove such.

“In English, the use of an adjective as a noun is common, and “deplorables” is thus understood as “deplorable persons.” More amusingly, “generalistic” is not even found at all in any place else … making this new word Hillary’s very own weird contribution to the English language.”

reply

The English language allows pretty much any adjective to be nominalized, especially if it doesn't have a noun form already. And it is extremely common to be used to describe a group of people. For example, "poor people" can be nominalized as the poor. There's no requirement that it must be part of the lexicon in order to use it.

reply

Exactly what I copied & pasted. New words are formed every year. “Generalistic” and Deplorables will be added to our dictionaries due to Hillary and the rest is history. Although not proper our manner of speech is forever evolving. Teaching proper English has to be difficult due to the blending of so many cultures. I once read English is the most difficult of all languages to learn.

reply

Just like the actual effect of Russia's social media trolling efforts, which have been falsely aggrandized as "election interference", the numbers and significance of "Nazis/white nationalists" are negligible. Their chief value is as a bogeyman for the left; a distraction from their radical policies and a political weapon against the right.

reply

Bernie accepted the endorsements of Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib who both openly endorsed BDS. If that isn't a direct link to hate, then you truly are clueless.

reply

Nazis suck. We can all agree on that. We should be able to agree that GRAMMAR NAZIS suck too, right? Yes, I'm looking at you ultraviolent.

As you know, Ben Shapiro is also Jewish and practices his faith devoutly. According to him, every Jew has a family member that was affected by the holocaust. Also, Bernie is just a JINO.

Also, he's accepted Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib who have openly endorsed BDS an anti Israel organization, so really that seems pretty contradictory. How can a Jew accept an endorsement that endorses and anti-semetic hate group, pray tell? Hypocrite! And this is your candidate?🤪🤪🤪🤪

reply

I wonder how many votes Bernie loses to anti-semitism. I've heard random anti-Jew and anti-black remarks throughout my life. I focus on the candidates' positions/voting record instead of their personalities.

reply

The fact that Bernie is Jewish was kind of swept under the rug, just as with the 5 other Jewish Dem candidates. But now that he may actually win the Neo-Nazis will start coming out of the woodwork. I mean Lieberman I think was more "acceptable" as VP since he was religious and pretty rightwing for a Democrat...and also boring as heck. Bernie is not acceptable to the establishment, just like in 1988 when Jesse Jackson was winning the primaries at one point, and everyone was worried he'd be the candidate; Obama was more acceptable as a centrist. That said I hope Biden is the one, but he's got to throw Bernie some bones if he doesn't want a repeat of 2000 and 2016.
