What Biden Will Do as President

A poster mentioned that Biden had no agenda. All candidates have an agenda but the news is looking for quick soundbites, not lengthy information. I only highlighted a few of Biden's. I disliked Sanders and Warrens agenda for their expense and impracticality. I feel the opposite about Biden's. Trump could've been doing a few of these if he actually worked and cared about the average Joe.

Biden:

His agenda addressed ongoing problems related to our old infrastructure which is collapsing. He has ideas to address these problems, modernize them and make them more competitive while creating middle-income unionized jobs.

* Tax credits for businesses to create jobs in low income areas around the country in both rural and urban areas.
* Modernize our electric grid
* Repair and update highways, roads, bridges, airports, hospitals, etc.
* Millions in rural areas lack broadband access. Create and update broadband access.
* Update pipes and other infrastructure for safe and clean water.
* Build a national high-speed rail network
* Low-carbon aviation and shipping technology
* Transition to electric cars and its infrastructure
* Launch a new generation of low-carbon trucking, shipping, and aviation technologies.
* Aid small manufacturers who Trump hurt with his Tariff War. There is a program that helps them become more competitive in a global environment that Trump also wanted to end.

Just a few highlights re: infrastructure.

Healthcare
* Under Obamacare, the uninsured went from 44 million to 27 million. Under Trump, the uninsured rose 1.4 million. Biden would stop Trump's assault on healthcare.
* Give Americans a new choice, a public health insurance option like Medicare. (Much better than expensive and disruptive Medicare for All). Also continue to expand Obamacare.
* A premium tax credit to help middle-class pay for coverage.
* Stop “surprise billing.”
*Repeal the outrageous exception allowing drug corporations to avoid negotiating with Medicare over drug prices.
*Allow consumers to buy prescription drugs from other countries and limit Big Pharma price gouging.

While Trump lives in the past, Biden is thinking about the future, helping the middle-class and poor and making us a competitive country. Even China has begun transitioning to electric cars. We're behind them thanks to Trump who does nothing each day but tweet, watch TV and play golf. Imagine all that Trump could've accomplished if he actually worked.

reply

Biden will be 78 when he takes office. Not a good thing.

I am no scientist but electricity isn't free.

Who will you blame when the stock market goes down?

reply

The last two candidates are in their 70s!

reply

Compromise with republicans giving them 80% of what they want.

reply

This. He actually believes things will return to normal when Trump leaves office. Does he not remember how McConnell, Boehner, Gingrich, McCarthy, and the rest galvanized the GOP into becoming the American Taliban for 8 years? If Biden really thinks they'll stop, he's more delusional than I thought.

reply

Absolutely! That's why the DNC is working on obtaining a majority Democratic senate. McConnell is unpopular and therefore vulnerable to losing his reelection.

reply

That tortoise has a hard shell. He might weather it out. Lindsey Graham might be doomed.

reply

American Taliban??? Are you fucking serious? Show me some proof rather than quoting a show filled with a bunch of insufferable sycophants.

reply

Pete Sessions used that exact comparison to describe their opposition to Obama all the way back in his first term. Look it up.

reply

I don’t care. I don’t agree with it even if it comes from the right side of the aisle. Do you?

reply

What about the creepy dude? He has so many inconsistencies.

reply

Everybody keeps calling Biden creepy yet our POTUS is hideous in every way shape or form. A giant orange orangutan with bad hair

reply

The media is sensationalising it and they come at something as a critic but theyre just sensationalising it.

reply

What Biden will do as POTUS:

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/nothing

Because he will lose...

reply

Look fat, here's the deal. Climate change is an existential threat, yes? He said it. What is he going to do about fracking?

This is how dumb and naive you dems are. Natural gas only produces half of the amount of greenhouse gases compared to coal and oil. Because of fracking, the US is now energy independent and a net exporter of energy. Without fracking, both of these are gone and we are now back to foreign oil dependent. That leads to higher oil prices and coal plants to produce more, thus more greenhouse gases.

So you think you're saving the environment by getting rid of fracking, when you're actually causing higher prices on Americans, more foreign dependence, and more pollution.

Maybe we're lucky and he's forgotten all about this by now.

reply

Stopping fracking here along with already planned middle east reduction and oil will go back up to $100 a barrel.
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-global-oil/oil-prices-climb-ahead-of-opec-meeting-to-discuss-supply-cuts-idUSKBN20S05T
Oil’s losses came even as OPEC agreed to cut crude output by an extra 1.5 million barrels per day (bpd) in the second quarter, its deepest cut since the 2008 financial crisis.

reply

And Bernie would end fracking too. Less jobs. Higher unemployment. No border. Higher entitlement payouts, but with higher taxes to pay. Higher gas costs. Less consumer spending and confidence. Recession.

Those dem nominees really paint a rosy future for the US, yes?

reply

Yes we all want $5.00 gasoline.

reply

We ALL have to pay our fair share. Including the poor. Gas goes up. Public transit fares go up. All of this and the air would be dirtier than cleaner.

reply

But the speculation is minimum wage and welfare will go up to meet the increase.

reply

Minimum wage goes up. Then businesses hire less people and unemployment goes up. Increase welfare funding. Then tax increases. Increase unemployment benefits. Print more money. Inflation increases.

This sounds like the late 1970's all over again.

reply

Sanders wants to ban all fracking. Trump wants to pollute as much as possible. Two extremes! The prior will wreck the economy and cost jobs and the latter will wreck the environment and cost lives and ruin the economy.

Biden is the voice of reason. He would continue fracking except on federal lands which I agree. We need to keep our federal parks for our future generation. Meanwhile, we develop alternative energy like the rest of the world is doing which will keep us competitive. Pragmatic goal and the only voice of reason.

reply

As I've mentioned before, I'm an outsider here. But I do keep an eye on some of the odd things I see your politicians do. Your President is a bit of a showman, it's true, but those two fellows who are snapping at his heels are, to my mind, just odd.

Sanders looks and sounds like a proper simpleton. He sounds for all the world like Mugsy from the Warner Bros Bugs Bunny cartoons. And the man seems to lack any hint of a sense of humour. He's forever scowling. I know that's a common trait of "zealots", and he, being an embryonic Communist, is quite that. I think those types of people are a bit chancy to be around, not to mention poor company. To make him the President would seem to me to be a far worse thing than making Donald Trump was, to some minds.

Biden gives quite a few indications of being not quite right, morally. I've seen a few of the Youtubes in which he seems to sidle up to young girls and purposely put his hands on them, and it always looked very suspicious to me. I notice, in those videos, that the children whom he touches all seem to cringe away from him, some even "shrugging" his hands away. Children have a sense of "the wrong thing", and those kiddies all seem to instinctively know that he's touching them in the "wrong" way. Adults may try to rationalise it, but kids generally can't be deceived about things like that.

So, why is it that Biden is presently being discussed as a potential President? It doesn't seem rational to me. If the man actually is what he sometimes seems to be, there would be a paedophile as Chief Executive of the United States of America. And while I believe that the world's societies are heading inevitably towards total collapse, surely that collapse isn't meant to be presaged by an obscenity like that.

reply

Trump and Sanders are both populists. Both exploit the desperation of their supporters by using "anger" and pretending to be outsiders. Trump's enemies are migrants and Sanders are the rich. You were kind with your word showman. Instead, I'd call the both of them charlatans. They're both bad for the country. Trump is undermining democracy and Sanders would attack capitalism.

As for Biden, I disagree with you. Maybe it's cultural, but there are cultures and people who engage in more physical contact. They tend to hug, kiss, touch more and outwardly express more emotion. Biden is like this. I notice he does this with people in general and most don't mind it. It's a way of empathizing and connecting with people. I actually liked the way people were responding to Biden during a small meet and greet on the campaign trail. People tend to like him.

As for children, it used to be expected for politicians to kiss babies. Now, American children have been warned that all people are potential sex predators. I understand the precaution, but it's possible to make children or people in general too paranoid. Or they can culturally or personally be less "touchy feely" than Biden. I see an overreaction to what's basically innocent and normal behavior.

Trump has separated very young children from their mothers and basically abused them with lack of beds, soap and toothpaste, no vaccines, and lack of food. Child abuse as government policy should be the real concern.

reply

Yes, politicians used to kiss babies, but that practice has ceased in recent years, I think. And I imagine the reason none of them do it any more is that it now has an ambiguous meaning. Our societies are quite rightly vigilant about any behaviour that can be even tenuously linked to paedophilia.

I've no doubt that Biden's minders have made him aware of the public reaction to what he does, and the impression it makes on people, yet he continues to do it. The children in those videos don't display any obvious aversion to the other people in the groups being photographed. But when Biden approaches them, they do.

Their facial expressions harden and their body language clearly says "Stop touching me!" Yet they've been brought along to meet what they've been told beforehand is a Presidential candidate and an "important man". One would expect that they'd be very receptive to him and eager to be seen to be befriended by him, so they could tell their friends. But that's not evident in any of the different videos that I've seen.

reply

Politicians still kiss babies including Trump.

The videos I saw were obviously doctored. If parents don't want their kids near a politician, then they shouldn't bring them to a meet and greet. It's normal for kids to become shy around strangers. I have a photo of myself on Santa's lap and I look like I'm about to cry. Meanwhile, I remember being excited to see him while waiting on line.

IMHO, equating a child's shyness to paedophilia is an over reaction.

reply

I haven't seen politicians in my country kissing babies for a while. But I admit I don't watch your politicians all that closely.

In what way do you mean, the videos were obviously doctored? Some of the videos are edited to zoom in on the children and Biden, but I don't see any actual modification of the images. Besides, I very much doubt that the kids' facial expressions and body postures could be digitally altered convincingly enough to get past anyone. I think Deep Faking relies on good resolution and steady framing to be successful.

One hopes that all those children are simply shy and wary around Biden. If it's otherwise, and he becomes your President, he would almost certainly try to legitimise his predilection in some way.

reply

I meant they are edited in a way to appear more provocative than they actually are. Much ado about nothing.

I just read an interesting article about how Biden's empathy, compassion and humanity come across as more genuine than other politicians. Like I wrote previously, there were people who were pouring their hearts out to him with their personal problems and he was listening intently while trying to comfort them. Some of that means giving a person a hug or putting a hand around their shoulder to comfort them. Trump's cruelty is not match for that and I believe most Americans are tired him. Biden's is basically a decent man and most people know that.

reply

It's true that Donald Trump does give an impression of aloofness and a seeming detachment from people. I suppose being raised filthy rich could instil that attitude in most people. Riches, like power, does corrupt. I notice he tries to offset it by extravagant public praise of people whom he supports. But I suppose if a politician doesn't do that, it's noted as a mark against him.

I've watched some of Joe Biden's speeches. Like all Left politicians he plays the part of a "champion of the common people", and he does that as well as any other. Certainly he performs it far better than Sanders, who's the farthest Left of them all, yet comes across as utterly lacking in any human emotion except that tiresome staple of the Socialist, "eternal outrage". It worked for Lenin because the Russian populace was ready for it. But Sanders is speaking to modern Americans, the most comfortable and affluent people in the world. I wonder that anyone listens to him, the silly sod.

One thing that Trump does right is to not try to clothe himself in false humility, and disguise his wealth. All your politicians seem to be dripping with money, yet Trump seems to be the only one who doesn't pretend otherwise. Even Bernie Sanders, that embryonic Communist, has wealth.

Still, I suppose people won't choose a poor man to be their Leader, in any country.

reply

Trump is a sociopath and narcissist. Part of his brand is to market himself as a business success and super wealthy person. A lot of it is a lie since he lives off credit and isn't as rich as he'd like people to think.

I wasn't talking about Biden's speeches. He was just talking individually with a few supporters and I closely watched their body language. Biden suffered a lot of lost so he's able to relate to other people who are suffering and vice versa.

"But Sanders is speaking to modern Americans, the most comfortable and affluent people in the world."

There are plenty of Americans who feel they are struggling financially. Health care, housing, college and daycare are unaffordable. The middle-class believe they are losing ground. College grads can't find good paying jobs. Many people are angry. Both Trump and Sanders are populists who brand themselves as fighting for common people against the elites and establishment which is laughable. They both use "eternal outrage" to tap into the anger of struggling people. Neither one has real plans to help anyone but themselves.

reply

Interesting points, Keelai.

reply

NO!!! slaps Keelai. I want my fantasy debate team Bernie v Trump. >:(

System is RIGGED!!! If it weren't rigged by the establishment I would've gotten my dream come true. Now I gotta watch Joe 'gaffe' Biden.

Have a weird inkling feeling Trump is getting re-elected. It's the 2016 all over again with Hillary but instead of woman, is now a man.

reply

I hope not. I don't think that America can survive four more years of Trump.

reply

Depends on how you look at it. One side is fine with it while the other isn't so it's half and half more or less. I mean it's closing in on 4 years of Trump and everyone seems to be more or less fine.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nC8p82YwqE

Something like this. Lot of misinformation going on. On the bright side, I will get to see some new memes and popcorn filled fun come November. Watching 2 70+ yo geezers go at it is prime time.

reply

60% are against Trump.

"everyone seems to be more or less fine."

Then you're not paying attention. He is purposely undermining democracy, the rule of law, American's reputation around the world, national security, American values, the economy, American institutions, America's relationships with our allies, trust in America by unilaterally ripping up accords and abandoning military allies, endangering Americans by inciting violence during his "rallies", normalizing undemocratic practices, corruption, nepotism, and human rights violations.

An autocrat who befriends dictators like Putin and Erdogan while cheering their brutality isn't America and what we should aim to be. I'm not sure what your vision of American is, but it's not the vision of most patriotic Americans. The United States used to be a country in which other countries looked up to for leadership, morality and values. Now, Trump has made us the laughing stock of the world and a country not to be trusted while he has helped his good friend Putin's political agenda.

Like I wrote, you haven't been paying attention.

reply

I am a US Army veteran and Trump disgusts me. Do you know what? Most of the veterans I know feel the same way. We've had enough of Trump pissing on the Constitution and he needs to go.

reply

Thank you for your service.

4x draft dodger "heel spurs" Trump insulted Gold Star families when he was still a candidate. His lack of respect for the military and the Constitution doesn't surprise me. I'm hoping most people remember what America is supposed to represent and vote that clown out. It's been a long three years.

reply

Here's another example of trump's leanings:

In March 2018, Donald Trump, addressing a crowd of donors at his Florida estate, told what sounded like a joke. He was talking about the recent amendment of China’s constitution to remove presidential term limits, allowing Xi Jinping to serve in that office indefinitely. About Xi, Trump said: “He’s now president for life, president for life. And he’s great. And look, he was able to do that. I think it’s great. Maybe we’ll have to give it a shot someday.” The crowd cheered and applauded in response. In fact, Trump has told one version or another of this joke many times since becoming president.

reply

We survived 8 years of Obuma, although he practically ruined my Country, Trump has been slowly building America back up to where it should be.

reply

Can you be specific how Obama ruined the country and how Trump is fixing it?

reply

The economy can’t.

reply

What Biden Will Do When He is Not President?

A. Complain that the Russians hacked our voting machines.

B. Nothing

C. Nothing

reply

Opinion. Nothing to back it.

Meanwhile Trump watches TV, plays golf and tweets for hours each day instead of working. That's a fact!

Bernie supporters are complaining about the same issues that Trump said he would fix three years ago. Trump fixed nothing except giving rich people a tax cut they didn't need. That's a fact, too!

reply

Biden won't even remember he ran.
