"Forty-six percent of Americans say they would like their senators to vote to convict Trump and remove him from office, while 51% want their senators to vote against conviction so Trump will remain as president."
The weight of polling has shown even stronger opposition to this impeachment farce in battleground states.
Since evidence of the past couple of decades shows these polls are typically slanted against Republicans (Gallup has even admitted that in the past), what's more important than the nominal number is the trajectory within a single outfit's polling over time. Here are some apples to apples Gallup findings:
"Trump's approval rating has been steady in the past three polls -- between 43% and 45% -- slightly above the 39% to 41% ratings he received as the impeachment inquiry started in the fall....Trump's recent job approval ratings -- though below the historical average 53% for post-World War II presidents -- are among the highest of his presidency."
If the Democrats' intent was to use this impeachment sham as a negative campaign ad against Trump at taxpayer expense, the evidence so far shows it's backfired spectacularly, especially if one considers the surge in Trump and Republican fund raising.
