I think Churchill had the best quote about liberals and conservatives.

Except that was back when conservatism still had a brain. Being on the fiscal left didn't make sense back then because the middle was where the left is now.
JFK, Ted Kennedy and Jimmy Carter were all for medicare for all, and nobody called it a far left position. Now it's a far left position. Reagan drastically changed everything.
Also, there's the argument that British conservatism still has a brain compared to American conservatism.
I live in NY, the democrats have full power in the state. Come Jan 1, the police will not be able to arrest like before, drug crimes, felony burglary, DUI and many others will now be given appearance tickets. This due to the new law on bail reform, which was viewed as unfair to the poor by democrats.
A clear cut case of heart over head.

That's a decades old saying that is irrelevant today.
Republican politicians have no backbone. Most hate Trump and openly opposed him when he was a candidate. Now they still oppose and complain about him to the media anonymously and to each other, but are afraid to go public. Spineless.
The Republicans have also abandoned their conservative values and principles of free trade, defending democracy from hostile enemies, pro-immigration, less spending, law and order. Trump and the Republicans have made the U.S. the laughingstock of the world.
I take it you're on the side of Republicans but dislike the the direction the party is going under Trump? In other words, the party would be way better off without Trump. Alot of republicans feel that way but scared to admit it.
shareThere are Republicans who have left the party because they don't like what the party has become. I found some of their ideas interesting but now I would never have anything to do with them. Too many kooks, liars and crooks. I blame McConnell too since he started to put party ahead of country when Obama was elected.
I'm against any corrupt and/or deceitful politician. I didn't like how Warren was trying to mimic Trump by putting forward a completely unaffordable and impractical plan (Medicare for All vs his Wall) and demonizing a segment of the population (rich people vs his Mexicans, etc.). That's populism crap!
Politicians are almost always full of crap. Most of them are puppets of the very rich people who pay for their campaigns and luxurious lifestyles.

Also, I just read a book about how some Republican policies that voters were manipulated into supporting shorten their own lives while helping the rich to become richer. People don't unite and fight anymore.

shareMichael Savage used to say on his show, "What do you call a Communist with 5 kids? A Republican!" (The idea being that once you're no longer a kid and life dumps responsibilities on you, your perspective changes. I wouldn't have expressed it that way, but I agree with the sentiment.) I also don't agree that the GOP is the "daddy" party, unless it's the daddy that takes the rent money to the racetrack to bet on "Three-Legged-Lightning."
