WOOPS! David Holmes, who overheard T-rump's phone conversation with Sondland, will testify on Friday
Yesterday, another shoe dropped during the televised impeachment hearing of diplomat Bill Taylor, that made Gym Jordan's head explode. Taylor, whose testimony back in late October made Sondland take a bottle of Prevagen to restore his memory, referenced another staffer who overheard an important phone call between Sondland and T-rump, because T-rump spoke so loudly into the telephone. That staffer will now be testifying on Friday in front of the committee, behind closed doors.
According to Taylor, he just found out over this past weekend that staffer David Holmes - a counselor for political affairs at the U.S. embassy in Kiev - was with U.S. Ambassador to the E.U. Gordon Sondland at a restaurant on July 26 when the ambassador placed a call to Mr. Trump.
According to Taylor's opening statement yesterday, "The member of my staff could hear President Trump on the phone, asking Ambassador Sondland about 'the investigations'. Ambassador Sondland told President Trump that the Ukrainians were ready to move forward."
Taylor said the staff member then asked Sondland after the call what the president "thought about Ukraine."
"Ambassador Sondland responded that President Trump cares more about the investigations of Biden, which Giuliani was pressing for," Taylor said.
Holmes is described as "a very sharp, honest, experienced" foreign service officer, "one of the best I ever served with," by William Burns, a career diplomat and former deputy secretary of state.
No doubt, Gym Jordan and the Republicans will spend the next 48 hours trying to smear Holmes and his credibility. "He was one of the best I ever served with."
