2 Million More Americans Without Health Insurance

For the first time in 10 years, the uninsured rate is going up. Thanks Trump! Thanks Republicans!

The increase in uninsured is mainly due to people being kicked off Medicaid in red states. Just a reminder that 63% of Medicaid recipients work. 1.8 million are veterans. 62% in nursing homes depend on Medicaid. 49% of all births.

Private health insurance companies made $264 billion in 2017 because they manage the program for many states.

"The number of people covered by private insurance didn’t significantly change.

Enrollment in the program rose by 14.7 million people between 2013 and 2019, with most of the increase coming in states that expanded the program. Several Republican-led states haven’t expanded their Medicaid eligibility.

They said a host of factors are at play, including the new Medicaid restrictions by some GOP states that may have resulted in some people losing coverage. Congressional Republicans also ended the ACA’s penalty on people who don’t have insurance, which also prodded some people to forgo coverage."

I can't read it because i'm not taking the hook to buy the story. I'm sure it is explained in it why but the front is just a hook to get the sheep to buy it.

reply

Pretty vague article. GOP "may" be at fault. "Maybe" its red states fault because the penalty was removed, but we aren't sure. This is weak sauce.

reply

Why don't just cut out all the pretenses and say: "It's the Dem's fault", clown. That's what you really think and what you really want to say.

I hope none of you guys were members of IMDB. Even the trolls there were better than you, bozo.

Amazing. We're supposed to be "the best country in the world" (yeah, right...) and yet, we have some of the worst health insurance out there. What's worse--Donald's idiot base vehemently defends it.

Want a doctor’s appointment? You’ll have to wait: Only 43 per cent of Canadians are able to snag same- or next-day appointments at their regular place of care, such as their doctor’s office. About 20 per cent of Canadians end up waiting about seven days.

Yeah, America sucks, doesn't it? Move to Venezuela! Socialized healthcare for you immediately! 😎

reply

France's health care system is among the best in the world an it's socialized.

reply

Move to France then! Problem solved! You're welcome. Enjoy paying those high taxes! 😎

reply

More deflection from you. Obviously socialized healthcare works or EVERY westernized country wouldn't have it .

I'm curious. Why don't you want Americans to have medical care? Do you hate other Americans?

reply

How is that a deflection? It's a solution to the problem! Doesn't moving to France SOLVE HIS PROBLEM?

I don't care if other Americans want medical care and I don't care if they get it. Just don't make me pay for somebody else's medical care. If you want to, go ahead.

reply

It's a deflection because you refused to address your incorrect comment. You wrote that socialized healthcare doesn't work when it clearly does since all Westernized countries have it except the U.S..

You're in major denial if you believe that you're not paying for "somebody else's medical care" right now.

reply

I don't think it works nor do I want to pay for it. Now if you want to discuss it further, define "work". How does socialized healthcare "work" exactly? What makes it "work".

I KNOW i'm paying for it. What I said is, I DON'T WANT TO PAY FOR IT.

Again komrade, why don't you open up your house to illegals? You've never answered this question.
Sponsor their housing and medicare if you are so generous rather than forcing others to do it for you.

reply

Obviously socialized healthcare works or EVERY westernized country wouldn't have it .

Keelai (circa 1776): "Obviously monarchy works or EVERY westernized country wouldn't have it."

reply

That's an example of a false equivalence. Nice try though.

reply

No, actually it's a deft takedown of your argumentum ad populum fallacy.
