"What Are You Thinking?": Pelosi Warns 2020 Candidates They're On The Wrong Track

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_FHV0fB5hY

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi thinks Democrats running for president in 2020 might strike out against Trump with ultra-liberal policies that fire up the party's progressive base, yet might not go over so well with swing voters in flyover states.

"What works in San Francisco does not necessarily work in Michigan,"Pelosi said in a wide-ranging interview with Bloomberg. "What works in Michigan works in San Francisco — talking about workers’ rights and sharing prosperity."

"Remember November," she added. "You must win the Electoral College."

And while she didn't back any particular candidate running for office, Pelosi said Democrats should be focusing on "lower costs of prescription drugs, bigger paychecks by building infrastructure, and cleaner government."

She also worries that candidates like Warren and Sanders are going down the wrong track by trying to 'out-left' each other to court fellow progressives while abandoning moderate voters that the party needs to win back from Trump.

"As a left-wing San Francisco liberal I can say to these people: What are you thinking?" Pelosi said. "You can ask the left — they’re unhappy with me for not being a socialist."

Pelosi also expressed concerns that voters don't care about the Green New Deal promoted by Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, which calls for rapid, radical reductions in carbon emissions.

"There’s very strong opposition on the labor side to the Green New Deal because it’s like 10 years, no more fossil fuel. Really?" said Pelosi.

Instead, Pelosi says Democrats need to salvage Obamacare:
"Protect the Affordable Care Act — I think that’s the path to health care for all Americans. Medicare For All has its complications," she said, adding that "the Affordable Care Act is a better benefit than Medicare."

Warren on Friday announced that her Medicare for All plan would cost $52 trillion (raising federal spending by $20.5 trillion over 10 years), and would be funded through a wave of taxes on large corporations, the wealthy, cracking down on tax evasion, an $800 billion reduction in defense spending, and putting newly legalized immigrants on the tax rolls. The Biden campaign called her plan "mathematical gymnastics" which would raise taxes on the middle class. Warren hit back, accusing Biden of "running in the wrong presidential primary."

"Democrats are not going to win by repeating Republican talking points," Warren said while speaking in Des Moines, Iowa. "So, if Biden doesn’t like that, I’m just not sure where he’s going."

Wonder if this will turn out the opposite like it did for Bill Clinton. Impeached but got more popular for the 2nd term. Sure it'll put a stain on his record, but Bill is doing fine to this very day.

reply

Pelosi wants to say that her big donors don't like Sanders and Warren but she can't say it out loud. Sanders and Warren know they are crushing it with individual donations and are out-funding super pac Biden. All signs point to that being the superior strategy. But Pelosi is living in her own little world where big donors get swing voters and small donors don't. She learned absolutely nothing from Hillary in 2016.

reply

Maybe you're right. Guess we'll see soon enough come November. It'll either be a 2nd Trump term or one of the dems. All in all it'll be a popcorn chomping ride.

reply

Pelosi fails to understand that when the country hates the GOP as much as it does now (or did in 2008) they’ll elect just about any Democrat, including a black guy with the Muslim sounding name who decided to run after spending only two years in the Senate.

reply

Too true!!

reply

The clapping, antifa seal wet herself!

reply

Yep. The country be damned.

reply

They need to learn how to lie better about what they really believe dammit. Obama was able to hide behind being brown so he got a pass when he lied to the American people. Unfortunately that card has already been played. :(.

And now they have to live with their hatred for this country being on display for all to see.

reply

Obama hated our country but got away with it because he's brown? Goddang you Trumpers are a racially spiteful bunch.

reply

I guess T-rump will get a pass for lying to Americans because of his rapidly progressive dementia.

reply

Non-factual, antifa lies, as usual.

reply

Proof?

reply

The burden of proof is on you. Where is proof that he has dementia?

reply

Where is it a 'usual non-factual antifa lie' ?

reply

Two posts up. Now AGAIN, where is the proof?

reply

On Monday’s broadcast of ABC’s “The View,” while discussing the failed 2020 presidential candidacy of former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX), co-host Joy Behar commented on O’Rourke’s calls for a ban on assault-style weapons.
Behar said, “They should not tell everything they’re going to do. If you are going to take people’s guns away, wait until you get elected and then take them away. Don’t tell them ahead of time.”

I rest my case. Democrats need to lie about who they are better dammit!

reply

Pelosi is right! Some of the Democrats like Warren and Yates are coming up with stupid plans that have no chance of being carried out but they feel will "energize" progressives.

I've been complaining about their stupidity for months now. There are Republicans who are tired of Trump and want an alternative but these idiots are going to scare them back into Trump's camp. Moderate Democrats don't want to hear their fantasies either.

Both Trumpites and progressives prefer to hear lies about building walls or 100% free Medicare in order to feel good instead of dealing with reality.

Where exactly is she planning to cut military spending? Is she going to close bases overseas? No maintenance? No military personnel benefits? End pensions? Stop training?

I disagree that Trump will become more popular. He's losing popularity, but he has a base that is clearly brainwashed and will vote.

reply

Like him or not, T-rump is a better choice than all the Democrat candidates, just as he was a better choice than Hillary.

reply

Be specific. In what way(s) is Trump better than Clinton or front-runner Biden? How has he helped you personally?

reply

My income tax check is twice as high. Gas is $2 a gallon also.

reply

My bills are higher too. Thank Trump's tariff war.

reply

I got my school tax for the worst school district in Texas. That went up because well we are democrat here.

reply

Did it go up because Texas received less Federal taxes and your state needed to make up the difference by increasing the taxes?

I know my state has received less Federal dollars so the governor needed to cut state services. The rich get their tax cut and the rest of us are supposed to pay for it.

reply

My paycheck is also bigger. I get bigger bonuses due to our record sales. His policies are better than any of the Democrat's "ideas". Medicare for all would be a disaster. He's also at least trying to secure our borders, he's trying to halt or reduce China's (and other country's) unfair and dishonest trading practices, he's also helping us to be more energy independent. The list goes on.

reply

Inflation wipes out any gains in your check.

Trump said he would repeal and replace ACA. But, he had no plan for replace.

A tariff war is dumb and only raises prices for consumers. Economics 101.

Fossil fuels are being fazed out by the world. China wants electric cars in their cities and has moved to build them. Ditto Europe. Trump's coal mines are still closing because nobody wants it. BTW, air pollution has went up the fist time in decades because of Trump's pollution. Weather-related storm, fires floods and other disasters caused by climate change ruin the economy.

reply

Nope. My cost of living hasn't gone up disproportionately.

I hope something good can happen in health care. ACA is not the answer.

So China should just be allowed to continue stealing our intellectual property and designs and be allowed to continue unfair trade practices? What's your solution? Common sense 101.

Fossil fuels are still very much the go to and will be for a long time. Am I in favor of new, better ways? Absolutely, but we're not there yet.

reply

Salaries have remained flat for the middle-class for decades. It sounds like you have no health care costs, eat food nor go to college.

How come the Republicans don't have one idea about national health insurance? ACA works very well in my area.

Fossil fuels are in a dying industry. Most new jobs come from green energy.

reply

I already said I'm for new, better forms of energy but we're not there ye and shouldn't be hamstrung before we are.

reply

What nonsense! It's here now and people are working in the industry. There are a few old farts who are trying to hold on to old fossil fuels because that's where their money originates. Trump is beholden to their lobbyists. And he's planning to give them another huge tax cut that the middle-class will pay for.

reply

Yep. What you just said is utter nonsense.

reply

Your in tears! So much reaching in this thread and you keep getting owned.

reply

Fossil fuels are in a dying industry. Most new jobs come from green energy.

😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆

US Energy Consumption by Source, 2018

Fossil fuels (oil, gas, coal) - 80%
Nuclear - 8%
Renewable energy (solar, wind, hydro, biomass) - 11%

https://www.eia.gov/energyexplained/us-energy-facts/

reply

NEW jobs!!! Not consumption.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/energyinnovation/2019/04/22/renewable-energy-job-boom-creating-economic-opportunity-as-coal-industry-slumps/#7be999de3665

reply

I was mocking you for claiming "fossil fuels are in a dying industry". You replied by linking to an op ed by an environmentalist lobbying group that's basically an advertisement, that contains factual errors (including absurd jobs numbers), and that doesn't come close to justifying your ridiculous claim. Your piece mostly attacks the coal industry, not "fossil fuels" as a whole, and has to concede that even coal jobs have increased some under Trump.

Lest you get too excited by that 11% renewable share of total energy consumption in my post above, I'll point out that in 1950 renewable energy was at 9%. It's gained a whole 2% in 68 years, much of it driven by government artificially inflating it at tax payer expense to pander to green special interests.

Then there's this:

"Crude oil production generally decreased each year between 1970 and 2008. In 2009, the trend reversed and production began to rise, and in 2018, U.S. crude oil production was 22.8 quads, the highest on record. More cost-effective drilling and production technologies helped to boost production, especially in Texas and North Dakota."

"Natural gas production reached a record high of 31.5 quads in 2018."

https://www.eia.gov/energyexplained/us-energy-facts/

Fossil fuel is the most effective energy source and the great lubricant of the economy. Global society is dependent on it. The notion that it's suddenly going to disappear any time soon, let alone in 10 years due to some insanely stupid "Green New Deal", without catastrophic consequences and likely a literal dark age, is as wrong and dangerously ignorant as it's possible to be.

reply

I'd prefer a link to new jobs in the energy industry.

reply

So you can't defend your absurd claim that "Fossil fuels are in a dying industry". Got it.

reply

My tax refund is bigger.

I can still have employer based private health insurance even though Obamacare jacked up the premiums.

No "hate speech" laws limiting freedom of speech enacted.

So is Biden your candidate?

How is he going to help you personally?

reply

No politician helps me personally because I have always helped myself.

But, I want a president who respects the Constitution, law-abiding, promotes American values, institutions and policies instead of Putin's and is interested in bringing ALL Americans together and respecting our foreign allies and our national interests and security.

reply

I am glad to hear you help yourself and I agree about a Constitutional President.

So who did you vote for in 2016?

reply

If you believed in a Constitutional president than you would t be supporting one who has broken the emoluments clause. He is also aiding foreign enemies abroad like Putin. he has also blackmailed a foreign leader by withholding needed funds unless he came up with dirt on his political opponent.

You're not being honest.

reply

Of all the people we could vote for during the election, I voted for my candidate and guess what? He didn't win. Trump did. So what am I supposed to do about it now?

And who did you vote for? Hillary?

reply

You're selling your soul for breadcrumbs. A few shekels in your paycheck is easily offset with increased prices aka: inflation.

Better question to ask is who are supporting in 2020?

reply

Has the inflation rate gone up? No. Have a few more greenbacks in my wallet is better than giving them away. Just FYI.

So does that mean you are willing to sacrifice more of your paycheck to pay for illegal immigrants? You'd rather have a known corrupt politician as President signing policy that decreases the liberty of its citizens? Socialist much, comrade? And you talk about selling my "soul". You've already done so as you can't deviate from your indoctrinated script pre-written for you. 🙄

Of all the democrats running in 2020, I don't like any of their domestic policies. I am fine with Tulsi Gabbard's foreign policy and I thank her for her service to our country as well as Pete. I know you don't agree because, well, you're a socialist. Even as history has shown us time after time that it doesn't work the simple notion that Freedom is Slavery you cling to not as a negative, but as a positive. Such a joke. 🙄

reply

Of course, inflation has increased! It always does. 2% official government if you don't count food and energy. I eat, therefore I do so inflation is at 6%. If you don't count hedonic pricing - which I don't, more government BS - it's 10%.

All I know is my rent is up, food, medical prices, movies, books, etc. The tiny 1% difference in my check is outweighed by inflation.

New Poll confirms what I wrote. Wages are flat like they've been since the 1970s:
"Nearly two-thirds of US voters say Trump has not made them better off"
https://www.ft.com/content/ce7e9f7c-fc13-11e9-a354-36acbbb0d9b6

Trump hires illegal aliens. Hypocrite much! My paycheck is going to multimillionaires and billionaires who voted themselves a huge tax cut at my expense.

Nobody is more corrupt than Trump. His foreign policy has lead to N. Korea with nuclear missiles. Iran developing nuclear missiles. ISIS running free in Syria. Russia empowered. China stronger. Trump tariff war which is being passed to American consumers. And U.S. farmers on welfare.

Conservatives love socialism when it comes in the form of ACA, food stamps and aid to farmers. More hypocrisy on your part.

reply

Do you not receive an annual cost of living raise??? That's common and guess what? Inflation increases even with a democrat as President. So what's your point??? A tax cut puts dollars in my pocket while a tax increase takes it out REGARDLESS what the inflation is.

According to the article you posted, 1/3 said they are worse off and 1/3 said they are no better off and 1/3 said they are better off. Although the headline is accurate, by not actually reading the article skews the perception of truth. At the very least, tell me you noticed that obvious biased slant.

You've already conceded that I have more money in my pocket with Trump than Clinton. Being that I wasn't going to benefit with Clinton in office in the same way, proves people like me benefited directly, yes?

Now what if Clinton was President? No tax cuts, yes? How does that stimulate the economy? More government jobs? Meaning more debt? Meaning an inevitable tax increase? Meaning a recession? So what do you think the article would've said with Clinton President? Instead of 2/3 no better off, we'd get 100% no better off and 2/3rds worse off. Comparing the two, it's kind of a no brainer, don't you think comrade? 🙄

He hired illegals? That's a good thing for you, right? How can you think that's hypocritical for something you are in favor of? It's hypocritical to me, but you should be praising that. What is hypocritical is for you to want it, but for him to not do it. Do you see your double standard? Idiot much? 🙄

Your entire paragraph of Trump being corrupt. Where the proof? And yet, you voted for HILARY. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. You do know she had a private server containing emails with classified docs, right? You do know the "pay to play" scheme with the Clinton Foundation, right? Shall I continue? 🙄

On the contrary. All those subsidies should be gone. Even though those are programs for US citizens you want to pay for illegals coming here. 🙄

reply

Inflation is much higher with Trump because of his trade war. No, I said you have less money because of Trump's trade war which increased inflation.

Trump said everyone would be better off. Only 1/3 agreed.

We have more debt because of Trump's tax cut for the rich. The manufacturing and farming sectors are in a recession.

You're a hypocrite because you're supporting a president who hires illegals. And his policies are not effective. Most illegals overstay their visa which Trump has ignored.

1. Trump's pay for play re: foreigners, lobbyists and gov. employees staying in his resorts to enrich himself. Emoluments clause.
2. Using campaign funds to pay-off his mistresses.
3. Getting dirt on a political opponent from a hostile foreign government. Unconstitutional.
4. Blackmailing a foreign ally to get dirt on a political opponent in an election. unconstitutional.
5. Using foundation donations to enrich himself.
6. Repeated money laundering present and in the past. He had to pay a fine.
https://www.fincen.gov/news/news-releases/fincen-fines-trump-taj-mahal-casino-resort-10-million-significant-and-long
7. Housing discrimination
8. Long history of not paying workers and contractors because he knows it's harder for working-class people to fight him in court.
9. Discrimination based on religion, national origin, race, gender, etc. Anti-constitution.
10. Repeatedly inciting people to commit violent acts. Mass killers have named him in their manifestos.
11. Repeatedly putting his own interests ahead of America which has lead to disastrous foreign policy.
12. Repeatedly attacking and maligning patriotic American veterans who have defended the U.S.
13. Attacking American freedoms like the press, speech, religion and protections of classes.
14. Broke multiple campaign promises. Where are his taxes? Where is his replacement idea for ACA? His easily won trade war with China? Growing coal mining industry? Good-paying factory jobs?

reply

Tax-cut for the rich was supposed to pay for itself but instead has blown-up the deficit. Nuclear programs in Iran and N.Korea thanks to Trump.

There are plenty more.

Trump is the worst president in the history of the U.S. and the most corrupt. There are multiple ongoing investigations of him.

If you exposed yourself to more than Breitbart and Fox, you would know that.

reply

You said I sold my "soul" for some sheckels. Now you're saying inflation. How far are you going to move the goal posts? Let me know, and then I'll kick.🙄

Oh wow! A politician making a generalized promise. Didn't Clinton do the same thing? Didn't Obama? Double standard much? 🙄

That's not the reason why we have more debt. We have more debt because we spend too much on social programs. That's kind of obvious. Ignorant much? 🙄

As I said, I didn't vote for Trump, but he won. So what am I supposed to do about it? Now that he's in, he is trying to stop the flow of illegals. That's something I agree with. How can you bitch about Trump for something you are in favor for? His policy?
Congress is where policy is enacted. Where's the effective policy from the dems?
Oh, there is no policy at all? Orange man Bad much?

1. Proof? Oh, because you say so.
2. Proof? Oh, because you say so.
3. Proof? Oh, because you say so.
4. Proof? Oh, because you say so. Unbelievable how you abandon due process.🙄
5. You're talking about Clinton.
6. Not government related.
7. Proof? Oh, because you say so.
8. Not government related.
9. Proof? Oh, because you say so.
10. What a joke! Idiot much? 😂
11. Proof? Oh, because you say so.
12. Who? McCain? I don't agree with it, but it doesn't mean he shouldn't be President.
13. You mean Anti-fa.
14. Obama didn't break any campaign promises? Double standard much?

Reading this chepooka, I'm left wondering. Do you think for yourself? Do try to help yourself or are you so dependent on the government to bail you out all the time? Socialist much, comrade? You can at the very least admit you're a socialist. 🙄

He's the most corrupt, said the indoctrinee that voted for Hilary. By all means, pray continue.
Your Ignorance is clearly your Strength.😁

reply

If you watched something other than Fox or Breitbart, then you would know that there is plenty of proof in court records which are part of the public record. Google is your friend!

Whataboutism when you have no argument.

How can we possibly need more social programs when you say that Trump has fixed the economy and everyone has a high-paying job? You're contradicting yourself.

If you don't know about Democratic policies, then you're keeping yourself ignorant which was my original point. If you want to know what is going on in the world, then you have to expose yourself to other information besides what's on Fox and Brietbart.

Repeatedly assuming anyone other than a Trumpite is a socialist happens to be unoriginal ideological nonsense.

You're so brainwashed that you believe one corrupt politician is more important than the values and principles of America. You're going to feel stupid after Trump has left office and you're no better off than when he started.

Millions have paid into Medicare and social security which technically aren't considered social programs but are huge liabilities. Are you saying that Americans shouldn't receive these programs even though they paid for them?

reply

You make the claim, you do the work. Burden of proof is on you. That's the way it works here in the US, comrade. Lazy much? 🙄

Where did I say Trump fixed the economy? Oh yeah, I didn't. Duhhhhhh.....

You don't think Fox News would report a ridiculous Democrat immigration policy? Do you honestly believe they would pass up the chance to ridicule it? Smug much?

You are pro-socialism, are you not? So how can being called a socialist be derogatory? You can call me a capitalist all you want. I don't mind nor would I take it as derogatory. Stupid much?

As if you cared about the values and principles of America. You're a SOCIALIST. How does that translate into the values and principles set by the Founding Fathers, pray tell??? Spare me you phony sanctimonious chepooka. Indoctrinated much? 🙄

Medicare and SS are not social programs??? Idiot much???

Of course they should get it, because we have to deal with the crap FDR started.
You do know it's not sustainable, yes? And if it's not sustainable, what do you think needs to be done? You should know.

You want to know who shouldn't get it? ILLEGALS.

Why are the illegals coming here, rather than Venezuela? Have you ever asked yourself that question? The answers obvious, but then again, you're Ignorant.

As a socialist, why don't you move to Venezuela? It only makes sense, yes? But we know the reasons why and you're a complete hypocrite because of it.

reply

Illegals come to the U.S. because employers like Trump hire them which is why those employers should be locked up.

BTW, you sound like someone who is having a hard life, therefore you need a scapegoat which you found in "illegals". I don't focus on them because I made my own breaks in life. I'm doing well, but I haven't forgotten those who are still struggling which is why I'd like a president who will legitimately help people like you so you won't be angry. That anger hurts the unity of our country and working together to move forward as one nation.

I consider you socialist because you're obsessing about handouts like "tax cuts". I doubt if you're a capitalist since I don't believe you ever started a company or invested in stocks.

Nevertheless, medicare and social security take up a large part of the budget and are liabilities. I would lower the deficit by not giving rich people tax cuts they don't need.

You're lazy which was my point. I read over two dozen different news sources each day in multiple languages as well as read books. If you're too lazy to google, then you're too lazy to read. I'd link books if I thought you'd read them, but I know better.

reply

They come because employers hire them? And yet you want to abolish ICE and the border patrol. Seriously, how stupid are you that you don't see how you contradict everything you say? Duhhhhhhhh.....

As if you cared about me and other "Trumpites". I told you to spare me your phony sanctimonious chepooka. Nobody is buying it, but then again, you probably needed an ego boost. Insecure much? 😂

So if you made your own breaks in life, why can't the illegals??? Why don't you open up your house then for illegals and you care for a few rather than burdening us taxpayers? What's the point of being a US citizen if you give an illegal the same rights, pray tell?

I'm a socialist because I like tax cuts. Do you know just how stupid that statement is? People can't get tax cuts, if they DON'T WORK. So how is a tax cut a handout? Pray tell? Only a socialist can make such a retarded statement as that.

I'm not a capitalist because I never started a company or invested in stock? That's why I'm not a capitalist??? Hellooooo...stupid much???

Yes. Let's lower the deficit by not giving tax cuts to the rich. What does that mean. NOTHING. If there are no tax cuts, then the revenue generated prior to said tax cut, would be the EXACT SAME REVENUE. After the tax cut, if people have more to spend, it stimulates the economy and increases productivity. That's basic econ 101. Even a socialist should know that.

So no tax cuts, thus no economic stimulation. But, more social program spending for illegals. Let's cut ICE and the Border Patrol. That will save some money. Oh no! More illegals! More crime! More housing issues! More homeless! Oh no! We should've kept ICE! D'oh!

You spew all of these claims yet you don't want to do the work to prove it and I'm the lazy one. Spoken like a true entitled SOCIALIST.

Please go sit in the corner and put your dunce cap on. Remember, it's not to remind people that you're stupid, it's to remind you. 🙊🙉🙈

reply

"And yet you want to abolish ICE and the border patrol. "

LOL! You're having a conversation with your delusional self since I didn't mention ICE nor the border patrol.

Since you don't need me to comment, I'll let you carry on with your delusions.

reply

So you are pro ICE and Border patrol?

reply

I used to work for Immigration and Naturalization. If you read my old posts, you'd know that.

reply

I didn't read them, nor do I care. Clearly, you are a government worker dependent on a government job getting government benefits. And yet, you want illegals. Talk about ingrateful.

reply

Once again, you're addressing your delusions instead of reality. You're beginning to remind me of The Joker movie that I saw yesterday. Are you capable of differentiating between reality and delusion?

reply

Do you like dodgeball? You seem to like to dodge a lot except when you get smacked in the face by the ball.

Are you pro ICE, yes or no?

reply

ICE should have arrested Melania Trump for working illegally and then deported her.

ICE should have arrested and imprisoned Trump for hiring illegals.

Do you agree, yes or no?

reply

Answer my question first.

reply

I'm pro ICE arresting Melania for working illegally and then deported her.

I'm pro ICE arresting and imprisoning Trump for hiring illegals.

Your turn.

reply

You FAILED to answer the question I asked.

I'm going to give you one more chance.

Don't make yourself look like even more of a moron than you already have.

reply

I'm really enjoying reading this debate, and Keelai, I've gotta say, you're getting destroyed.

reply

Not very constructive comment, but you're welcome to join. This is an open format.

reply

Unlike comrade Keelai, I concur with your post. 😂🤣😄😁😊

Trump has already admitted to grabbing women's pu$$ies and paying off his mistresses with political contributions. Nothing creepier than that.
