Micheal Cohen & Rudy

Were both lawyers for Trump.
Ones in the can and the other ones gonna flip!

reply

Rudy? He's dumber than Michael Cohen. He'll hold out to the bitter end thinking Trump is his friend.

reply

He cracks under no pressure. He'll flip like a burger at McDonald's.

Trump's repeated comments distancing himself from Rudy has gotta be making him sweat bullets, so I'm not so sure he's a bitter ender. I mean, just today when asked if Rudy still represented him:

"Well, I don’t know. I haven’t spoken to Rudy," Trump told reporters outside the White House. "I spoke to him yesterday briefly. He’s a very good attorney, and he has been my attorney, yeah, sure."

Not exactly a ringing endorsement. Rudy's a longtime pol so he's gotta recognize the rhetoric as his boss preparing to hang him out to dry.

But at the same time, he's also got to take some level of comfort in that the sole reason he is not in jail right now must be because Barr is protecting him. His two Ukrainian goons under his orders were arrested funneling foreign money into the US political system to get a US ambassador of their country fired. How the fuck is he not arrested already? He'll know his goose is cooked when he's got handcuffs on.

It makes no sense Rudy is not behind bars right now unless he's being shielded by the Hand of Barr. Although if it is Barr keeping him out of jail it sort of begs the question: if Barr has everything so locked down, why did Rudy's goons get arrested at all?!? We don't know. But the most obvious legal assumption is that it is much easier to deny a de novo request to investigate than it is to shut down an investigation that is already in progress. This investigation appears to have been underway when Barr arrived at DoJ early this year.

The Southern District of New York is also known for its independence from Main Justice. So maybe even for Barr there are limits on his ability or willingness to shut down investigations of straightforward crimes, at least ones not committed by the President himself.

We'll know more very soon I'm sure. I'm eager to find out just how much of a grip Barr has on DOJ and whether this could be a chink in his armor.

Rudy's about to be trampled by the wheels of the bus.
