I got accused of racism today.

It was on Twitter (surprise).

I posted a meme of Russel Westbrook responding to a reporter's stupid question in a disgusted, incredulous manner.

I thought it was kind of funny because of the way he managed to use "bro" and "man" in the same sentence. Also, it matched my feelings towards the tweet I was reading.

My accuser said a white guy shouldn't use a meme of a black buy speaking in ebonics. That took me by surprise. Russel's grammar wasn't what you'd call standard, but it didn't sound like ebonics to me. Oh well. Live and learn.

What!?! lolz. He sounds full of it. Don't let him succeed in trolling you by taking his accusation seriously.

It's not like you were patronizing Westbrook when your point was to emulate his sentiment.

reply

Yeah. "Bro" and "Man" don't make it ebonics. White people use those words that way all the time. At least that was my thinking.

When a black dude gets upset at you for racism, though, its hard not to take it seriously. Maybe I overlooked something?

reply

Depends on who it is and their reasoning. Random black dudes patrolling twitter as PC enforcers don't earn much benefit of the doubt. I'd be more interested in why he calls Russ-speak "ebonics" and why he's treating it like a badge of shame if he's a black guy.

I still think you're being subtly trolled.

reply

That meme has been around forever. Your accuser was either up his own ass or he was trolling.
