When Will Trump Turn Against His Base?

It's his nature - or illness - to eventually turn everyone into an enemy by lashing out at them. Right now, he is attacking Fox News, his former ally which helped him win the presidency.

i don't believe it will happen all at once, but by group. As people lose economic ground, they will complain and Trump will begin to attack them. For instance, if the farmers complain about their bankruptcies, then they'll become his enemy. Next, factory workers who lose their jobs.

I don't know about Trump turning against his base, but his base, his minions, and sycophants are starting to turn against him. The man is insane.

The question is: will his base even notice he has turned on them? I don’t think they’re that smart.

Thats a tough question. It all depends how his base responds to the economic conditions he has put them in. The ones that react negatively will cease to be his base. The ones that ignore the faltering economy will remain his loyal supporters. He could probably avoid criticizing his loyal supporters by focusing his criticism on only those that are critical of his handling of the economy.

I don't see farmers and factory workers as his "base" so much as gullible blue collar workers hoodwinked by his BS. I see his true and mostly staunchly loyal "base" are the hardline anti-immigration racists. And he might be in the process of it right now by his consideration of carving out a special exemption to shield Venezuelan and Cuban immigrants from deportation after Florida GOP spelled out to him in no uncertain terms he'd lose Florida without their support according to Politico.

It's not a direct attack, but it's the kind of thing that should piss off his base.

From my perspective it's hard to see why any Venezuelan or Cuban immigrant would trust such an exemption to last beyond 2020 should Trump be re-elected. Why wouldn't he just reneg and send his ICE goon squads to deport them once he had his re-election wrapped up? It's mind boggling to think that anyone would fall for it.

But I understand there is a pretty hard right Cuban immigrant community in Florida that would probably fall for Don the Con's "special" exemption for them.

Didn't he turn on his base when he hired illegal aliens at his properties and then deported fewer illegals than Obama did?
