Despite the property being under 100 feet of water in 10 years, the Obamas buy $15m estate in Martha’s Vinyard

A couple that’s never made more than $250k year has magically afforded the ability to buy a $15 million dollar estate in Martha’s Vinyard. Must be a 120 year mortgage term.

Strange they’d buy ocean front when we all know it’ll be 100’ under water in 10 years. Because science.

Since, according to "progressives", the world is ending in 12 years anyway (or are we down to 11 now?), maybe they figure they might as well blow that money.

reply

That's the ticket.

reply

according to gore, the world ended years ago...

reply

I wasn't aware Gore was the scientific community? So if Obama makes a movie about biology and evolution then the scientific community is wrong and Obama is right? and years and years of study and evidence gathering and proof are untrue?

reply

he is not, that is the whole point, he predicted the World would end due to global warming, and now global warming was solved because now its climate change. the Earths climate has been changing for billions of years, the same scientists have told us this.

reply

You say "he is not, that is the whole point" , then go on to talk more about what he said.

No it's both global warming and man made climate change. the average global temperature is warming, and its creating climate change throughout the world. You dont know the difference between "global" and climate? really?

No these are the same scientists who actually believe in man made climate change, who you ignore. Funny how you believe them when it comes to what makes your car work, that gravity exists ect. But not on politically inconvenient things?

reply

Scientists also used to put lead in paint and asbestos in almost everything and doctors used to endorse smoking.

For now its just scam and money making scheme.

"Donate money to me and I will help stop climate change." Is basically whats going on now.

Bezos already donated $10b to climate change. So climate change and global warming have been solved.

reply

what are you even talking about? Your post makes it clear you do not understand science in general or climate change/global warming even one bit.

by that logic if someone donated a few billion to global hunger then its "solved"..is that how complex things work including global climate? why did you even write your comment if you were so ignorant on the topic?

reply

glad you brought up global hunger, because in 1985 there was this thing called We are the World concert for starving people in africa. it raised over 1 billion dollars, meanwhile fast forward to today, these same people are still starving in africa.

how do we solve climate change? please elaborate?

reply

so you just contradicted your entire post. First you said they got money so it should be solved. now you are saying "global hunger initiatives have got its of money and it still isnt solved"

Welcome to complex reality! Where things arent as simple as check to do list box A and B and its solved! something as complex and multi faceted as poverty and hunger or global warming are incredibly massive undertakings. Especially when a large part of our whole system of trade and energy is built on carbon.

Its a fact global warming and climate change is happening and people are contributing. You cannot release that much carbon and there not be consequences. We dont live in magic la la land where cause and effect is non existent.

The genie is out of the bottle and it cant be put back in. most of the initiatives out there like planting trees are feel good things that have little effect and are temporary.

Maybe educate yourself before talking. thanks

reply

unfortunately, sarcasm doesnt translate very well on the internet. just saying that throwing money at stuff usually doesnt solve the problem. it didnt work for africans and its not going to work for climate change. nuclear was a good idea until Chernobyl happened. no one wants that to happen in the US. for now the best bet is to have oil and gas as primary sources of energy.

reply

yes sarcasm is partly a tonal device using inflection, how would that work in text?

No nuclear still is the best alternative (and where I may differ than many on the left) new technology makes a meltdown almost impossible, but then this doesnt fully solve it for places like Japan or California that are on fault lines or prone to tsunamis

I do agree oil and gas are the most stable, most easily accessible and one of the cheapest. The problem is it is having massive massive consequences. The temperature change we are seeing globally while seeming small, is normally a change that happens over 10k years, not 100.

As much as people like to say "they are just doing it for money!" the scientists are not manufacturing data. Its happening without a doubt, we have influenced it without a doubt, and the consequences will be horrific without a doubt.

I mean this is an anecdote but in my region we finally god snow here in canada. an area normally covered since November in it. Then last summer we got rain maybe 7 days the whole summer. then the summer before same. then the summer before we got rain 5/7 days a week.

None of that is the normal climate here. and it will massively and did massively effect corn. which those years barely reached my height when normally its feet taller.

reply

Great reminder as now the world is ending in just 8 years! 5 if you source the most ignorant of the left.

reply

No I dont actually because I have actually followed the science. I do love when people who haven't make things up in their heads and expose their own ignorance! keep it up.

reply

When ever has estimates been 10 feet a year rising? Please stop posting made up numbers in your mind. We have science for a reason

reply

Well, AOC said it all would come to an end in 12 years! Don’t ya love the fact we can find videos of these leftist loons predicting the future?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlLCv4zzsFo

From an article dated January 27, 2016!

”Watch out world, and we are sorry if you had not realised before reading this, the world is ending today. That’s because today is the day that climate change entrepreneur, and former US Vice President, Al Gore warned us would be the beginning of a global emergency.

Mr Gore told his supporters a decade ago that the world had until 27th January 2016 to end its addiction to fossil fuels or the it would come to an end. Gore did not specify what householders might expect to happen today, but he was clear that this would be the end.

Yoo-hoo! We’re still here! 🥳 Most of the Democrat leftists have lost their minds, but...

reply

I did not realize AOC was a climatologist.Where did she study? What institution does she work for? How many papers has she published?

it seems rather than take my criticism of how what Gd said made no sense at all. you decided to do the same thing as him and try it again.

So ill try again! If Lindsay Graham says the sun does not really exist and the earth is flat is this true?

AOC or Al gore "said it" means just about as much to me as saying "Donald Duck said it"

When talking about global warming and climate change science I care what the climate scientists have to say and what their studies show. Crazy I know?

reply

She will take your words and spin them. Trust me logic and rationality doesn't go far with her or the poster of this board. I wish you luck.

reply

Shame I was hoping for a logical conversation but I guess not.

What we are attempting to get across, this is one of the reasons voters voted against Trump. They could care less what scientists have to say. It’s easier to believe those who are enemies of Trump that to understand and believe the diverse opinions of scientists. I for one believe our climate is cyclical. In the ‘70’s we were warned about the coming new Ice Age. Scientists are an enigma.

I will agree to this degree, people are causing a problem by changing the natural environment of an area. I was raised in Central Florida during the time when we had afternoon rains to cool the evenings. We still had the humidity no escaping that. In the ‘70’s Disney came and thus Florida began turning into an asphalt parking lot. Before Disney a hot day in Florida was the low 90s. Now 100 degrees plus is becoming the norm.

Droughts are occurring, wells are going dry. People at one time had 75-80 ft deep wells. Now it’s 300 ft. My dad put in a shallow well using a garden hose. Sinkholes are becoming more common. There’s no moratorium on building. Florida is permitting every blade of grass to be turned over, every tree uprooted (trees work in harmony with the clouds), wildlife disappearing, gopher tortoises being entombed (developers are supposed to move them, but they don’t).

More roofs appearing, more pavement to absorb the heat then emit it with no rains to cool it. At one time only single homes on 5 plus acres were found around the lakes of Florida. Now small cities are surrounding the lakes which is detrimental to the lakes. The run off from fertilizers, pest control poisons are going to devastate the lakes and fish. Soon the only thing left will be the algae.

There will come a day when Florida will no longer be able to supply the water needed for the millions. The aquifer will have gone dry.

"I for one believe our climate is cyclical"

I do not care what YOU believe. this is the beauty of science. it relies on evidence and facts. not your particular feelings that day or week. why should I care what you are feeling?

scientists aren't an enigma.. its actually very obvious and simple I dont get what is confusing at all. They rely on facts and evidence to formulate the best explanation. as the evidence gets changed, updated and better they can change not only their theory but their understanding.

They didn't have enough evidence in the 70s. some proposed the hypothesis the earth may be cooling. Very few in fact but as usual the media at the time made a big story about it. Further research and all the evidence gathered has pointed in the opposite direction. mystery solved...

reply

Well...EXCUSE me for giving my opinion! It’s your way or no way. I get it. Just to inform you my opinion is based on scientific facts from other scientists.

BTW, you are not a voice of reason proved by your snarky reply!

reply

You can have the opinion gravity, evolution and germ theory are all made up and do not exists. I dont have to treat you like an informed, intelligent person with a valid opinion. What makes an opinion special? why should I care when its baseless and built on nonsense?

No its facts vs fantasy. Provable reality vs "I feel like". Your fantasy and feelings mean literally nothing because they have no bearing on what the truth is.

Umm snakiness has nothing to do with reason.

reply

if I remember correctly, gore and his scientists said the oceans would rise about 1-2 inches per year, if we use 1 inch per year over 14 years, thats a whopping 14 inches higher. this would flood obamas precious new house. apparently obama doesnt believe in climate change as well...

reply

You arent remembering correctly and apparently cant even bother to do 1 minute of research on google.

That aside, whether Obama believes or not in climate change, or lets say flat earth. Has no bearing on what the scientific studies show us. you and other conservatives on here besides being intellectually lazy, seem to have this obsession about which person said X or Y.

Rather than arguing the science. I cant blame you because you have no leg to stand on!

GD5150, I must apologize for moviefanatic, he's a very pathetic individual who is on a mission to go to every board I visit and say whatever the opposite of what I'm saying. He's like the 5 year old little brother who says the opposite of whatever his older brother says to be annoying. Myself and another poster are pretty sure he's mentally challenged and attends an adult daycare center. What's also strange is that just the other day he sent me a PM with this big long rant and then said he was blocking me (kind of cowardly but whatever) yet just a few minutes ago he replied to my thread on the Cannibal Holocaust board. Don't take anything he says seriously, he is not worthy of your attention and/or respect.

Both the Obama's have multi-million dollar book deals and the Netflix deal. They can easily afford a 15 million dollar house.
