You are too generous.

10.

Saved the country from an awful economic outlook that Carter caused and destroyed our greatest enemy, the Soviet union.

reply

Forty years of sustained opposition to the USSR and enormous and costly military spending brought that state down. Reagan mistakenly gets all the credit for this happening from conservatives who are clueless about history.

What a load of garbage. You sound like a kid spouting talking points you got off some Alt Right website or a fake Russian account. How the hell did Reagan save the economy when we lost millions of domestic jobs due to deregulation, and we had a major trade and budget deficit numbering in the trillions? Were you even alive at the time because if you were, you'd know we had massive layoffs and tons of jobs being shipped overseas, except the millions of jobs lost were euphemistically referred to as "downsizing."

reply

Wow! You really like to rewrite history. Can’t wait to see your memories of T-rump 20 years from now.

8. Would be higher but for the 1986 illegal alien amnesty. We are still paying the price for that blunder.

reply

Let’s forget about the Iran-Contra Affair while we’re at it.

You'd have to be in your 60s to make an accurate statement about Reagan.

I'm not old enough to remember. I was a kid.

9. Easily the greatest president of the 20th Century.

His big amnesty mistake (which only became a crisis because later politicians failed to fix things) is outweighed by him winning the Cold War, liberating hundreds of millions of people, and saving the US economy. He simultaneously conquered double digit inflation and facilitated an historic boom with free market policies, which Keynesian Democrats had claimed was impossible. On a deeper level he not only "restored patriotism and the country's confidence", which even liberals admit, but did so by leading a "rediscovery" of founding American principles that stopped the nation's slide into Euro-style socialist decline and bought us a few more decades of America being America. Now aspects of that battle will have to be refought.

7/10. Undeniably left an impact on politics and the government, for better or worse.
