Republicans really letting us know where they stand on racial matters with actions like this.

Democrats founded the KKK, why is that party still legal?

reply

A little history lesson. 1860s politics were completely different.

In 1860, the Republican Party were the progressives. They were for diversity, immigration, equality, and innovation.

The Democrats were the Conservative Party. The Democrats became split into two parties: National Northern Democratic Platform and the National Southern Democratic Platform. The Southern Democrats wanted to spread slavery and the Northern Dems. didn't. Each had different presidential candidates who were defeated by liberal and progressive Lincoln.

The party definitions switched slowly during 159 years!

Now, pertaining to your comment re: "Democrats founded the KKK"

Not true. It was founded by Confederate veterans. Many did belong to the conservative Democratic Party, though. see above. In 1910, when the KKK became popular, they belonged to both parties.

Right now, most KKK members are Republican, the conservative party.
