Its incredible how a populist so opposed to McCain's politics in 2016 is now going full McCain.

But this is how it always happens. Democrats fix the economy. Republicans use it to bring us into war. Rinse and repeat.

Democrats fix the economy.

Not Carter.

Clinton partly.

Obummer - weakest recovery in our nation's history.

Didn't Obama bring us into the Syrian war?

reply

Obama brought the drones. A terrible decision but still a step down from W Bush. Bolton and pals are using the drones to escalate to war. Well played Neocons. Well played.

reply

Drones, assets, and the whole shebang. We have an actual foot presence in the country while backing the kurds and some so-called terrorist fighters (well I guess they would be terrorists since they're fighting against the sovereign government).

If it was up to me I'd give all of Syria to the Kurds. They deserve it more than anyone else. They've been beaten down by Assad. Beaten down by Saddam. Turkey hates them. The Saudis hate them. And most of all ISIS hates them. Yet through it all they have our back.

Not only are they the best military fighters in the region but their women fight with makeup on so they'll look good in the afterlife. Thats some baller shit right there.

The whole Sunni vs Shiite vs Kurd thingy is FUBAR imo. All the fighting to do with religious antics of what their magical god wants.

reply

Sunnis and Shia hate each other because they disagree about which is the true Islam. The Kurds don't care what others think. They just want the right to live in peace. But they never get it because the other two are so stalwart in their beliefs. The Kurds are just fighting for the right to live.

Btw notice how Trump was so opposed to war in Syria but is now so open to war with Iran. Both Syria and Iran are Russian allies but of the two its Syria's alliance with Russia that helps Russia the most. By keeping Assad in Syria the chance is gone for the Saudis or Israel to gain access to the Mediterranean. This allows Russia to keep its hold on the European market as Russia is the number one provider of oil there. The Saudis want to take over Syria (access to EU market) and Iran (gaining Mid-East dominance). Trump is giving them the one that hurts Russia the least. Coincidence? Uh huh.

No I do not, and neither do you if you bother to read the news on a regular basis.

WASHINGTON ā€” President Trump approved military strikes against Iran in retaliation for downing an American surveillance drone, but pulled back from launching them on Thursday night after a day of escalating tensions.

The operation was underway in its early stages when it was called off, a senior administration official said. Planes were in the air and ships were in position, but no missiles had been fired when word came to stand down, the official said.

The abrupt reversal put a halt to what would have been the presidentā€™s third military action against targets in the Middle East. Mr. Trump had struck twice at targets in Syria, in 2017 and 2018.

Let the war begin.

No thanks.

I prefer stuxnet.

US is already doing something similar to that or trying to with the Russian power grid.

reply

I totally dig that too- golly, does this mean Putin and Trump's alleged "collusion" is over?

reply

It was reported by the New York Times (dunno how they got the info). Something about intelligence not wanting to tell Trump about it in case he wants it called off.

reply

I am digging on that, ty for the update!

Trump Approves Strikes on Iran, but Then Abruptly Pulls Back

WASHINGTON ā€” President Trump approved military strikes against Iran in retaliation for downing an American surveillance drone, but pulled back from launching them on Thursday night after a day of escalating tensions.

As late as 7 p.m., military and diplomatic officials were expecting a strike, after intense discussions and debate at the White House among the presidentā€™s top national security officials and congressional leaders, according to multiple senior administration officials involved in or briefed on the deliberations.

Officials said the president had initially approved attacks on a handful of Iranian targets, like radar and missile batteries.

The operation was underway in its early stages when it was called off, a senior administration official said. Planes were in the air and ships were in position, but no missiles had been fired when word came to stand down, the official said.

ABCNNBBCBS Had to rewrite their orange man bad stories. Adding a didnā€™t in front of ā€œbomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iranā€. The conclusions of course didnā€™t change.

And now we find (or not) that we had a manned mission in their air space which they claim to have spared a missile.

Curioser and curioser.

I wonder who is behind that one.

Iran refrained from shooting down a US plane with 35 people on board that was accompanying the downed drone in the Gulf, a Revolutionary Guards commander said on Friday.

Amirali Hajizadeh, head of the Revolutionary Guards aerospace division, was quoted as saying by Tasnim news agency: "With the US drone in the region there was also an American P-8 plane with 35 people on board. This plane also entered our airspace and we could have shot it down, but we did not."
