Democrats give illegal aliens the right to vote in US elections.

The Democrat controlled House rejected a GOP attempt to discourage localities from the new leftist trend of an increasing number of cities (especially in California) letting illegal aliens vote. Of course every non-citizen who votes disenfranchises an American citizen. Democrats are fine with that if it enhances their own power.

Citizenship, an ancient innovation of classical Greece, is even more fundamental than democracy. The notion that people have a stake in the government and aren't just subjects ruled by a despot was unique to Western Civilization and set the stage for conceptions of the social contract and political liberty that followed. If anyone who's just passing through can vote, even those here illegally, and exercise power over your lives, then citizenship is tossed out the window and elections don't mean much. The government isn't really accountable to anyone and is free to manipulate the electorate's makeup however it wants to maintain power. We're no longer a nation of laws and there is no more social contract.
