Unhinged: Trump calls media enemy of American people

Even Trumpkins with at least one working brain cell has to think this is idiotic, no? 

If you don't, you ought to go a month without paying attention to any of it. I'd bet anything you can't honestly do it.

The president is again lashing out at the press.

President Donald Trump vilified the press again Friday, tweeting that the media are “the enemy of the American people” and specifically calling out several major news organizations.

Earlier, Trump tweeted and then quickly deleted a slightly different version of the tweet. The revised version includes mentions of ABC and CBS in addition to the other news outlets. All of these outlets have reported on significant controversies involving Trump and his administration, including claims that his team communicated with Russian officials throughout the presidential campaign.

The White House didn’t immediately return a request for comment.

Trump’s tweet drew swift criticism from reporters:

I would hope that our leaders would never believe that any American desires to make another American an enemy. Let's dial it back.

Trump’s tweet came one day after he spent a major chunk of a meandering 77-minute press conference disparaging the press. He called the media “out of control” and “dishonest.” He also blamed what he called the “fake media” for former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn’s resignation, claiming reporters treated the former general “very unfairly.”

He also frequently attacks publications on his Twitter account and has claimed that polls showing negative ratings for him are “fake news.”

I guess this is the next logical step after years and years of 'conservative' pundits telling their listeners that all outlets that do not have an explicit 'conservative' bias are part of the 'Lame Stream Media' and therefore cannot ever be believed. Or trusted.

3. Enemy of the American People
4. ???

So what comes next on this slippery slope? All media outlets that are not 'conservative' or 'Pro-Trump' should be illegal? Are enemies of the state and should be shut down?



Such as? Were the stories about the inaugaration crowds lies? How about the concerns over Russia's involvement in the election - because one of Trumps top advisors as stating that they were involved. Or how about the Security Advisor lying to the VP - was that a lie?

What do you think poses more of a threat to you - the media or a President who wants to shut down freedom of the press because they dare criticise him.
