Forgotten name of anime

So there’s this anime I watched when I was 8 to 10 years old and I can’t remember much. This girl gets visited by a magical creature and she goes to a magical academy of some sorts I believe. She even eats a candy given to her by the creature so she can understand their language. And she’s one of the only people who has 2 magical creatures. I don’t know, I forgot most the details.
