What do you think of my list of good Bond movies?


Here is my list of the good entries:

FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE

GOLDENEYE

THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH

SKYFALL

I know, I know, DAD is on list over quite the others that are not, but I find it to be one of best over the top Bond movies, the same way I feel about Moonraker. As you can see, I feel the 70s and 80s take a huge dive in good entries, compared to the 60s and 90s.

There are other entries that go right down the middle for me, where I cannot decide if they are good or bad. These ones are TSWLM, LALD, OP, SPECTRE and NSNA.

The others I think I can officially say are unworthy entries. What do you think or what's your opinion?

The fact that THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH and DIE ANOTHER DAY are on your list but not THE SPY WHO LOVED ME or LIVE AND LET DIE actively concerns me.

Verily I say unto thee...I think that LALD and TSWLM should replace TWINE and FYEO on that list.

If you don't know that TSWLM is a good Bond film then you are showing judgement that qualifies yourself for a major political party nomination for the presidency of my homeland.

Now, this is a signature gun, and that is an optical palm reader.

Okay thanks. Well here are the problems I have with those movies:

THUNDERBALL

The movie has some good underwater action scenes, but I find the script to be very flat. Domino Dervall, is very goodlooking, but a very flat leading lady. Largo is one of the flattest villains of the whole series too. I do like Volpe, but that's it.

Also some of the fight scenes were overdone, using sped up motion, and it looked too comical, rather than exciting.

LIVE AND LET DIE

I felt there was really not much of a plot in it, and it feels like a series of set pieces. There are sections that could have been cut out and it wouldn't have mattered to the plot and no one would have noticed, which seems like a bad sign.

I also find the climax to be kind of anticlimatic, as the villain just didn't have an interesting plan for Bond to stop, and all he had to do was destroy some drugs and rescue the girl and that's it, and all of a sudden, the movie was almost over, when it felt more like a middle action sequence maybe. Bond also does it himself and refuses CIA back up for some odd reason, as he always welcomed back up in the past, and it felt out of character for him. Also mainly of the villains are completely forgotten by the writers, such as the sinister villains at the funeral marches.

THE SPY WHO LOVED ME

It feels a lot like things that have come before. The villain has the standard cliche of dropping a traitor into a trap, like we saw before in YOLT, for example. Bond doesn't have a good scene with Q or Moneypenny. He doesn't even flirt at all with Moneypenny. And when he has his scene with Q explaining the car to him, we see it far away from Anya's point of view, so we can't even hear Q and Bond talk, or have any fun disagreements.

It just felt kind of like a by the numbers entry, and I think the Stromberg villain could have been better as well. Although I do like Anya's subplot with her boyfriend a lot though.

I also feel that some of the sexual, flirty dialogue between Bond and Anya is cringeworthy, such as the sharing bodily warmth lines. It's more about the delivery than what they are actually talking about, but it comes off as a cringy and cheesy.

I know I like DAD, but the lines in that were awesomely bad, where as the lines here are just kind of lamely bad, if that makes sense?

THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS

I am really close on this one cause it has some good action and suspense moments. My main problem with the movie is that Bond and Kara have no chemistry for me. Bond is always annoyed with her it seems, and constantly having to correct her, and put her up with some of her shannigans, such as wanting to go back for the Cello, or flying into a cliff, without even seeing it before she gets way too close, etc.

My gf and I watched it and she couldn't stand Kara. She comes off as a naive school girl, and D'Abo overracted the part I thought. Like when they defeat the prison guards and she says to Bond "You were fantastic, we're free!!!". And Bond has to correct her, saying that they are trapped in the middle of nowhere still, and he almost looks like he is going to roll her eyes at her. She was just all over him like a school girl, even though the situation was too dangerous for her to be acting like that.

And then all of a sudden Bond somehow still falls for her. It just felt forced and I didn't buy it.

Also the movie has some of the most unmemorable villains. Brad Whitaker is a strong contender for the worst villain of the whole series possibly.

He comes off as just weak and a bit baffoonish. His villain layer is nothing more than a very average looking war museum, where he likes to play with toys literally.

Koskov was okay but nothing special. I also didn't like Necros, and he is by far, the most unmemorable of all the tough blonde henchman throughout the series.

So those are my main problems with those ones.

It feels a lot like things that have come before.That is exactly the point of THE SPY WHO LOVED ME.

Plus TOMORROW NEVER DIES.
