How do you prefer your Spy films ?

I think there are four main types of spy movies

Sleek and Stylish: The male fantasy type: always wears the best clothes, knows how to get the ladies and gets the best of the best in everything this films are definitely more style and eye candy than substance.sure some have pretty descent stories but its not the reason we watch them.

examples:The Pierce Brosnan Bond flicks, Sean Connery Bond flicks, Mission Impossible, Mr and Mrs Smith and The Man from UNCLE.

The bad ass action Grity Spy: very action oriented spy movies with a realistic look with spies who bleed, sweat and are very believable as Assasians. Guys you believe they can defend themselves in a fight guys who are buffed and really mean buisness

Examples: Daniel Craig Bond films, Timothy Dalton Bond films, on her Majesty's secret service, The November man,Taken, The Bourne franchise and the tv series 24.

The Drama spy films: these ones have very little action but have the best stories with a very intriguing plot and very real spies.

Examples of this: The Tailor of Panama, The Constant Gardener, Tinker taylor soldier spy, Argo, Bridge of Spies and spy game.

Comedy spoof the spy films which look like parodies of spy movies, basically spy movies to make us laugh
Examples: Roger Moore Bond flicks, 1967 Casino Royale, Spy, Kingsman, Austin Powers, Johnny English and get smart

My favorite: Sleek and stylish.
i love watching those spy films and sight over Pierce Brosnan, Sean Connery and Henry Cavil. i have to admit as well those films make me wish i was an actress to play these sexy, ultra confident and gorgeous femme fatales. When you watch those films make us we were part of that world.

2nd bad ass grity action
3rd drama spy films
4th Comedy

The aesthetic of sleek and stylish and the content of drama would be ideal for me.

Were you hoping for Henry Cavill as a possible successor to Craig?

If you must blink, do it now.

I second that emotion. However, Bond films are no spy films. They are a genre of their own. They do need more action and humor than, say, a John le Carré movie, but no, they are not simple action movies either, whatever a certain person on this board may keep repeating ad nauseam.

Yeees but there is a small problem with Cavil he is too targeted to the female audiences, the franchise could loose a lot of male fans if he played Bond

I also prefer them with a vodka tonic.

I think Allied with Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard will be that way.

It's a really complicated question, I put Craig's and Connery's in the same category at number one. Then Moore and Brosnan with more easy going movies at two. I'd probably put drama's above comedy's because comedy spy films are never that good, except the last two 0SS 117 films which rank alongside Craig and Connery's in quality.
