Skyfall vs. The World Is Not Enough

https://dejareviewer.com/2013/02/19/movie-matchups-skyfall-vs-the-world-is-not-enough/

Here are the similarities between Skyfall and The World Is Not Enough:

*Each film marks the third appearance of an actor as James Bond.
*Bond is wounded in the shoulder in the pre-credit sequence.
*M is involved in the plot much more than in other Bond films.
*The villain is connected to MI6.
*A woman is deathly frightened of the villain.
*MI6 is attacked.
*Bond nearly kills the villain with a gun, and then the villain nearly kills Bond *much more dramatically.
*Each film is a swan song for a beloved actor/character.
*A new Q is introduced.
*Bond’s American counterpart is noticeably absent after appearing in the last two films.
*Bond’s family history is subtly touched upon.
*The villain is killed in an anticlimactic way.

TWINE also has a part near the beginning where MI6 retreats to a rural Scottish hideout, again much like Skyfall.

If you must blink, do it now.

I used to compare SF to GE, mainly due to Silva and Trevelyan being similar, but this makes sense too. SF is miles ahead of it in quality, though. GE is a bit closer.

Skyfall is enthralling, The World Is Not Enough is The World Is Not Enough.

Indeed.

I prefer the Word is not enough because its more faithful to the Bond formula while still having a good story and while i do like Craig, i prfer Pierce as James Bond

reply

I prefer TWINE as well. They are both good entries, but TWINE is better. Renard is quite possibly my favorite villain in the series, with his reverse stockholm syndrome, and Electra is a really good villain and Bond girl as well.

Some people criticize her as a villain for having daddy issues, but I don't get it. That's like saying Norman Bates is a weak villain cause he has Mommy issues.

But TWINE also has a more unpredictable story with more surprises, where as SF feels like it's sort of going through the motions in a lot of the first half. The second have is a lot better, with a great ending, but it's more predictable I found.

The world is not enough is better acted and less dull and monotonous, it doesn't go on and on and on for the sake of it like skyfall which has a better finale that's it.

He's a brilliant character delivered by one of the greatest performances in cinema history.

Elektra is mad because her Daddy didn't give her the oil business. Or something. TWINE doesn't make much sense. But Sophie Marceau is exquisite, so there's that.
