OT: Has anyone here read The Wheel Of Time series?

I have had this series highly recommended to me, 14 books is a large investment of time and money, so I would like some fantasy fans second opinions?

I have read all 14 books. It starts off great, gets increasingly bogged down in plot-lines and unnccessary character descriptions/interactions in the middle but it ends on a high note.

For me it was worth it to read the whole thing, but a couple of the books in the middle are almost skippable for the amount of tedium in them and not driving the plot forward.

Thanks for the opinion, my friend.

I read the first 8 books over a 5 year period. If Jordan cut down the detail so that the middle 300-600 pages read like the first and last 100 pages of each volume, it would be an incredible series. But if I have to read of Nynaeve pulling her braid just one more time, I think I'll scream and toss the remaining books in a fire. Over the past year, I've read about half of book 9. Boring is too kind of an adjective for the last couple of books.

In seriousness, their are far too many characters, some disappearing for volumes at a time. I'd be completely lost without a very good website.
