Was Harry originally intended to die in Deathly Hallows?

During my teenage prior to the release of Deathly Hallows, there were some news about Rowling going to kill Harry Potter in the battle with Voldemort. Is it true? or are these just rumors i heard? Back then i was not an avid book reader.

No. Rowling said that the epilogue was something she had planned well in advance.

In an interview with Dan on one of the extras disks, she did say that she considered killing off Ron at one point, but it seemed to be more of a passing thought rather than something she seriously considered.
